A Veteran, whether active duty, retired, national guard, or reserve, is someone who, at one point in his or her life, wrote a blank check made payable to "The United States of America" for an amount of "up to and including my life."

I just got back in town also! Made an offer on a house (2015) about 90 miles from here and 4000 ft higher elevation. MUCH cooler in summer, still, very mild winters. Seller has 24 hours to accept.
On another note...

Happy Birthday Walt!!!!!

 Well - I hope you have a Happy Birthday today Phil!!!

Birthdays used to be something to look forward to...
Now it's like "NOOOO!!!! Not Another One!!!"

But what can you do??
Time Marches On - as the song says...

I have had a few "slips" with my memory in the last several years... (probably no more than usual for me)
My beautiful busty bride has been very good with her memory - Perfect if you ask her!!

Her Dad turned 70 this month and we had a BBQ for him and the family.

We had a pretty big party for his 50th and 60th birthdays.

When I was a big rock star playing guitar in a band, we had a surprise birthday party for him at the local bar.
We played for it and we invited all his friends and family and had a meal and everything!!

When he walked in the bar - He walked in with another fellow.
We all yelled "surprise!!!" and he stepped back thinking it was for the other guy!!

It was really funny and something to remember!!

I re-wrote the words for "Keeper of the Stars" to "Keeper of the Cars" because he liked to work on cars for people.

"It was a valve I bent - Timing was off..."
I wish I could remember all the words i wrote to it!!
He actually kept the sheet of paper with the words because he liked it so much... (-:

I told my wife how I remembered his 50th birthday was so much fun and how her Dad walked in the door and did what he did,
"You mean his 60th birthday, Don't You??" she says with a superior tone.

"No 50th sweetheart - 10 years ago for his 60th, I was in a different band...
We lived in our old house and we were still self-employed when we did his 50th - That was 20 years ago -remember???

She INSISTED it was his 60th - I get laughed at and mocked called "old man" and other things for my bad memory again - for several days.... )-:

So - later that week when we had his 70th b-day party - I wait until we're all sitting down to eat and I ask her Dad...

"Was that your 50th or 60th when you walked in the door and you thought the party was for someone else??"
Instantly, he said "It was my 50th when that happened."

Well, Well, Well!!! - - I look at my wife and she looking straight down at her plate eating... She knows what's coming!!

So, I tell everyone, "Little Miss 'Super Memory - I'll Never Get Old' here has been calling me old man and saying I have Alzheimers for the last week because I said it was on your 50th."

So i got to have a little fun by making jokes about Geritol and Alzheimers with her - In front of her family!!!
It was great, sweet revenge!!

So - Phil - Don't forget to take your Geritol and I have a funny story about my FIL's 50th birthday party and my wife.....
Or did I already tell you about that?? :hmmm:
