He was the real curmudgeon here. Had a witty reply to everything, but likely had forgot more than most of us have learned. He was a good guy. Passed from heart problems without any warning. I don't think he was very old, not much older than me. :dunno: He IS missed, he made the threads fun!

Dean would send me care packages from the visitor centers of historical places he visited. We both shared a love of history, and as a teacher I'm sure he loved knowing he was still teaching someone..... even if it was an older student and by mail.

I enjoyed his wit, and will always regret I never got to meet him in person.

Was just thinking of Dean this morn, not realizing it was his birthday. Dean, what Walt said in his first post as it was eloquent.
Miss ya bro!

Sorry to see you go Dean. Never enough time and it makes

Saw that it was Deans birthday too.
I didn't know as long as some of you - but I sure miss him... )-:

He definitely added some "color" to this place!!!

I'll never forget my very 1st post here...

He'd took my post apart and replied to parts of it - and he seemed like some kinda sarcastic/grouch/smartass!!!

I remember thinking 'Now thats not very nice to do to a new member... I don't know about this place."

Later, of course, I figured out he was just messing with me!!

Then, I got to looking forward to whenever a new member would post - Just too see what he said to them!!! (-:

I sure miss that!! (-:

And I sure miss Dean.

I bet that was funny. He sure sounds like he was a character and a good guy too! I wish I would have known him!

He was a master of taking it right to the line without crossing over if he felt like it..... that is why I made him a moderator to begin with, keep your friends close and your........ well you get the idea LOL

I really admired his wit and way with words, he could have been a debater with ease and would have tore his opponents apart without a doubt.

Thanks Husk! This is him in his car when he and I had lunch a week before his passing. He came to Phoenix fairly often and always, we had lunch or dinner. His last trip here he brought his friend down to the Dillon factory here to buy a new 550 with all the goodies and we had lunch up in Scottsdale. Still miss him.
