If someone flagged your pc and it was determined you were an actual spammer, you would not be here as your account would have been deleted.

Otherwise, no action would have been taken against you.

A Veteran, whether active duty, retired, national guard, or reserve, is someone who, at one point in his or her life, wrote a blank check made payable to "The United States of America" for an amount of "up to and including my life."

I have the same problem @ work as tjsjr. IIRC it is spamhause or something. We are behind a NAT so if someone got our NAT IP blackisted I wouldnt know who it was.

Happens quite regularly. Someone in the office gets a PC infected, and, we couldn't send e-mail for six months.

Sucks, but, DNSBL's are the most effective way that we have at this time, to curb abuse.

That being said, I'm not sure we use those for this website?

Folks, it seems as if we are getting several multiple threads going either about the same topic, or as a continuation of an original, in the form of an "update".
If you all would be so kind as to search before posting about something that already has a thread going about it would be great.
If it's a "work in progress" please update the original, rather than start a new "update".
Not only does that help on reply notifications, it makes topic easier for all to follow.
You can also use bookmarks to save any thread you like as an easy way to find it if it becomes stagnant and falls off the front page.
That saves us as staff the time of merging everything into one, locking 2 because there are 3 of the same, saves having someone get disgruntled because their thread was locked, etc., and just makes the forum more organized and member friendly.

Also, if you would like YOUR thread locked or deleted, please use the report post option to bring it to our attention. If you are the OP, it will be granted without question.
You can post in the thread about such a request, and you can edit the title to reflect your wishes, but reporting it is easier for us.

It's not that we don't want new posts, it's just hard to keep up with a topic that spans three different threads, in three different areas.

Thank You, HPT Staff.

Please, use the "report post" option if you feel the need to bring something specific to our attention.
You can call attention to any thread in any topic by using this, even if you are the O.P.
The O.P. can request a close/lock on their topic/thread with no questions asked.
You can report spam, report complaints, etc. as well using this control.

We check our Mod. control panel when we login, for reported posts. If none show up, we start browsing, posting, joking, whatever, just like any member may do.
We may check "view new posts", "view active topics", or any number of things.
If there is a problem, and it's posted in a thread, versus reported, we may miss it, or otherwise take longer to address it.
It's really easy to do.
If you are using the forum default theme, you have, in the upper right corner, a small radio button in the shape of an exclamation mark. That's the "report post" control you all have.
Different themes will have the same style button, but may be in a different area.

Please use it if you feel the need. That will get attention faster than posting in the thread, and sometimes even by PM.

Once a reported post has been identified, it will be dealt with.
In the case of a spammer, that post and any further posts relating to the spammer will be deleted in an effort to keep the thread on track and understandable.

While we, the staff try to be as diligent as we can, we are not always here all the time.
That's where you (we), the members come into play. You (we) all can help make this the best, most enjoyable, trouble free forum available, by using the controls you (we) have at hand.

I tend to think we do a damn good job. We have an integrated staff that works together.
We have an integrated member base that works together.
We have a great place to come and talk about our passion, ask for help, make jokes, laugh at ourselves and each other, speak our minds on (in some other places) controversial, or questionable topics, and still do all of that without issue for the most part.

That's a direct reflection on the members here.

This is in no way directed at any other specific site.
Though we all now they are out there, we need not start complaining here about them.

Thanks to all for being here and making me proud to be a member, staff or not.
E

Thanks guys.
In case this looks a little hit and miss on topics, I decided to combine three of mine into one to trim the forum of stickies that all had a common theme.
