Today is veterans day, formerly Armistice Day. Please thank any and all you know have served. All Americans owe them the deepest of debts.

A Veteran, whether active duty, retired, national guard, or reserve, is someone who, at one point in his or her life, wrote a blank check made payable to "The United States of America" for an amount of "up to and including my life."

Amen to that. God Bless all those men and women. Thank you.

The foreign policy of the US has been one of "empire building" ever since the First World War. The Constitution authorizes government to provide for "national DE-fense", not "international OF-fense". If Americans were really interested in promoting our national safety, they would realize that a policy of constant foreign intervention directly undermines that stated goal. Our country has military forces stationed in 135 countries around the world, and we are influencing their governments and economies either directly or indirectly in every case. That is the political equivalent of poking them in the eye with a sharp stick.

THANK YOU, VETS!

Count your blessings then, Waltham! :D Though many in my family have served, I've not had a relative KIA since the Civil War. I don't know how we've stayed so lucky, but sometimes you gotta think it's best not to ask questions.

just because you were never shot at means nothing to me, you would have answered that need had you been called to do so. this i know for sure. having been shot at when I was in Desert Storm, I still consider you and all those like you my brothers and sisters. point is that you did your service and were available had the need arose. Let me Thank You and all others

My cousin is fixing to get go back into service following a 2 week leave for knee surgury. Hes a bomb defuser and has already been to Iraq at least once.

Send prayers for Mike and all our family. We just buried his mom last week.
Every time i run into an armed forces member i make a point to stop them and thank them for what they do. They always kinda get shocked and say "Thanks man". It seems to me alot more people need to remind our armed forces that we still love them on other days than today.

But thats just my $0.02

Well put Leland, but Vets. probably walk by you everyday, you just don't know it.
I know I could.
There are approx. 23 million of us.
It's been 20 years out of uniform for me, but I'm proud to have done it, and proud to be a Vet.

Prayers to your family for the loss, and for the cousin about to go back.
