Hello,

I was looking for a new boat anchor and several of my friends told me that MKS/Hi-Point had several good models for sale. So, I went to their website and looked at what was available, and decided to buy the JHP model.

The price was higher than I had expected as many anchors sell between $25 and $75 dollars. My new JHP cost $199 plus tax. I also bought 25 feet of new chain.

As I was preparing to attach the chain to the JHP, a different friend pointed out that it had a 9-round magazine and an adjustable rear sight. I looked through the paperwork that came in the box and discovered that this anchor could also shoot bullets of .45 ACP caliber.

So, I bought some Monarch .45ACP ammo and went to the old dump and practiced poking holes in the side of an old Buick that someone left when they got tired of fixing the thing.

This JHP put pretty good groups into the car door at ranges of between 25 and 50 paces. There were a couple of fail to feeds and two fail to ejects but, by the time the box was empty, I wasn't having any issues with it.

I am glad that I followed my friends advice and bought this new boat anchor! :D

I am looking forward to seeing how well it holds my boat in slow currents, too.

Thanks for taking the time to listen to my Tale. I look forward to hearing what You folk have to say.

Adios!

ROS

Don't do any mag lip tweaking or ramp polishing yet!!! Load the mags full and leave them sit full for a bit. Also, use a little 800 grit wet/dry and "de-burr" the UNDERSIDE
of the mag lips... no bending or tweaking unless later, you find it needed.

Welcome to the forum!!!! And enjoy the heck out of your new .45!!!

Thanks for all the kind words of encouragement!

My cousin Larry and I went to the range yesterday and matched our firearms against each other, me shooting Monarch 230grn Ball and him shooting some French sounding stuff (Sellout and Benoit?), also 230grn Ball.

He's shooting a new Glock (to him) model something or another and I my new JHP.

He had several (colorful adjective) moments and I blazed along without a hitch.

We even swapped pistols to see if it would make any difference. (I told him he was 'limp wristing it')

Didn't make any difference. His manual did say he would need to fire 250 rounds through his weapon to break it in.

My JHP was ready to go after only one box of Monarchs.

I am looking forward to shooting with my cousin in three weeks.

Sto lat, everyone!

Adios!

Glad it was fun and that you got to poke him a bit about it!

I also have the same model "boat anchor". Mostly folks don't like when I come to the range with my "cheap junk". I certainly have more expensive guns but I have just as much fun shooting this one, and they really get pissed when I can hit a milk jug at 50 yards with it.

Had so much fun with my JHP I went out and bought the matching 4595 Carbine! I haven't shot it yet, are then any problems I should look out for?

Good move, you won't regret it; the 4595 is a great carbine.

Do you have funds available to shoot it as much as you're going to wish?

Congrats on the new Carbine Riik!!! :great: :great:

I've been wanting one for some time but haven't been able to justify the funds yet
over other things I'm having to spend on. :(

Soon though.

Let us know what you think as soon as you try it!!!

Well, with the last of my paycheck (for this month) I bought 250 of UMC 230 grain Ball ammunition for $109.00 and change from Wal-Mart.

I should get time early next month.

:D
