Never heard of it? Well, don't blink or you'll miss it! Been lurking for a little while and decided to give this one a try. I got started with HP last summer when my LOML decided she needed to learn to shoot (crazy world, even here). She shot everything I could lay hands on and finally settled on the C9. Never owned a HP before that and actually believed most of the hate. But, what Mama wants... Imagine my surprise when her's was not only reliable, but very accurate - at least as good as my SD9VE. So, her C( lives in the bedside stand and "my" SCCY now lives on HER hip. Couple more weeks and I'm gonna give the JHP a try. My brother bought one last fall and really likes it. Ain't life weird?

Welcome to the forum! Glad you got to discover the Hi Point line of pistols, do yourself a favor and pick up a carbine too, they are very good weapons!

Nope, never heard of Cocolamus but I, too, have lived in some towns that were pretty small.

Good decision

Fairly normal story. It's good that you let her decide what she wanted rather than dictate her needs.

There might be a man or two here that can relate ...

Again, pretty normal story.

Good that she carries

You'll like the JHP -- personally, I think it's a better pistol than the C9.

It's been my experience, at least so far, that the longer you ride the weirder it gets.

I'll also second the suggestion to try a carbine -- cool little rifles.

Thanks, fellas. Walt - down the road I already have the 45 carbine on "I want one" list. Read a lot of good things about them and I like the idea of having both a pistol and a long gun in the same caliber. Amp, I've read that the JHP is better than the C9 - enlighten me, please. Is it the caliber? Some complain about the weight, but I didn't think my brother's was all that heavy. Weight's more toward the muzzle than I'm used to, but it isn't "heave" for a .45. EX - love to see your state sometime. One of the "free" areas left in the US, so I hear - and warmer than PA in the winter!

.45 acp > 9mm

The JHP fits my hand better than the C9 and I think it's more accurate. It's always fun to hand a JHP to a gun snob and let them discover that a 'cheap' handgun is just as accurate as their ( insert ) more expensive model.

I'll also admit I never carry HP pistols -- too heavy, too large. But I think they make an excellent trunk or floor-board choice.

A thread from another forum about JHP and 4595:

Most certainly warmer than Pa. I was in Wilmington for 3 years. Summers muggy and winters cold.
Been 70-80 here in the days and 65 at night. Nice time of year here.

underGround! Sweet!! So the other site was hacked. That explains a lot. I was OK with that site, but I'm glad I found this one. More laid-back, it seems. Rev Bif, remember reading a book when I was younger - Sci-Fi, but can't recall the title - all about a mind control experiment gone horribly wrong. I think your tag line was the final line in the book "But who will watch the watchers?". Been through KY - beautiful country, beautiful horses, mostly friendly people.

:welcome: :welcome: Welcome From South Dakota, Histed!! :welcome: :welcome:

Glad you joined us!!

I see you've met Amp...

My Beloved JHP was the 1st pistol I ever bought.
Had it a little over 2 years and about 4,000 rounds through it.

My two Sons-in-law have 45's too: one has a Glock 21 and the other a Springfield Armory something-or-other,
Despite the wrinkled up nose and comments on how "blocky looking" my JHP is from one of them...

Guess who shoots better than they do??
And not once in a while - just about every time!! :D
Of course - I have the Mahan Sight on mine - a great solid sight - worth every penny!!
It helped me a lot.

Anyway Welcome Again!!
Sure hope you like it around here. :D
