After a 35 year layoff from gun interests, I am back with the purchase of a C9 and 995TS. Much has changed, the lingo, accessories, and most of all the laws of my state, California. I am a lifetime member of the NRA. Yes, I kept my guns in good condition all those years. Some of the hollow point lead tips are corroded though.

My goal is to get back to the range and polish up target skills and the use of the bullet button.

It's about time you got back to it. Things are much better in the gun enthusiast world than they were in the late '70s and early '80s. Unfortunately, you are in one of the worst places for gun ownership ... but it could be worse -- you could live in 'Frisco. :roflol:

The pistol is okay, it works well and is reliable. The carbines are HiPoint's cool, unique products. There's not a gun that's much more fun than a 995.

You'll catch on pretty quick. One that bugs me is 'bulletheads' ... for some idiotic reason that's a synonym for 'bullet'. In my mind it will always be a synonym for 'idiot'.

The NRA provides a lot of information and updates on laws. In California there's Calguns.net and the wiki they maintain as well as the calguns foundation.

Prudent. The ammo will still shoot okay.

Commendable goals.

If the mentally deficient are not allowed to own guns then why should they be allowed to make gun laws?

Thanks for the suggestions. I purchased the 3M Peltor Tactical 6S and I will buy new ear plugs at the range. My box of old earplugs are antiques and I cannot imagine what evils are growing on them after all these years. I'm not sticking them in my ears.

Thanks again gentlemen for the information. When delivered by Amazon I can go to the range with my new weapons. Anticipation....

I am thinking of taking a refresher course in the fundamentals of handgun and long gun handling. Yes, that is a good idea.

Any and all training any of us can get is always a good thing! Congrats on the Peltors. They are nice! They (adjustable) amplify voice and kill high pressure noise.

And again, WELCOME!!!
