Here you go you sharpshooters.

Your chance to be in an exclusive ranking that only the "elite" can be included in.

I'll add a new "sniper" rank if you can do this and prove it.

All shots must be verifiable for range, target, and shooter, via a video clip, and must be posted IN THIS TREAD publicly for review by others as to integrity before being considered for acceptance.

All shots will be the same target size. A US penny, or equivalent traced outline of a penny.
Scopes, Lasers, RD's, Bipods, etc., are all allowed.
Any means you have available for sniping is allowed as long as the distance and caliber requirements are met and verifiable.

Weapon choices are as such.
1. Any hand gun shorter than 4" barrel length --- 15yds.
2. Rimfire Handgun 4"+ --- 50 yds.
3. Rimfire Rifle --- 100 yds.
4. Centerfire Pistol 4"+ --- 50 yds.
5. Centerfire Revolver 4"+ --- 100 yds.
6. Centerfire Rifle --- 200 yds.
7. Pistol caliber rifle/carbine --- 100 yds.
8. Shotgun Slug --- 125 yds.
9. Shotgun Birdshot --- 75 yds. with one pellet in the target.
10. 50 cal + --- 2 miles :D
11. Tanks, mortars, missiles, rockets, bazookas, or whatever some of you may have "in storage" must have the approval of the next state.

Flamethrowers are in a separate class, as yet to be defined.

Rules are 1 round through a penny sized target at the specified range for the weapon of choice.
The weapon and a short description of it must also be clearly displayed before the shot.

Any takers on this?

I like it!
Don't know that I can do it? But I like it! ;-)

One question though......Does it need to be one shot one kill? Or can someone sit there and unload hundreds of rounds before making the kill? ;-)

A "true" sniper  would only need one shot from up to 1000 yds with a rifle, but in this case, we'll say A shot on target, no matter how many it takes to achieve the goal.
Basically, you hit it, you git it.
You prove it, I'll move it.

Well hell......Then I think I might be able to get this ranking after all!

Provided I don't run out of ammo before I hit the damn thing!

Here's another question for ya....... If we make the shot with one of each of the catagories what rank do we get then?

Guess I'll have to make more than one huh?.
"Sniper"
"Sniper Mod."
"Sniper Admin"
"God"
:sarcastic2:

Seriously though, if you can prove the shot within the rules, you get the rank.
Hopefully most everybody has a weapon within the rules to use, so it doesn't matter which they choose.
If you have guns that fit in multiple categories, simply choose the one that's most accurate and comfortable for you, just like a sniper would do.

Well I'm definitely gonna give this one a try with the 597 next time out.
I may try it with the Su16 too?
But I doubt I'll even try the handguns? I'm a decent shot I think?
But I can see me just getting agrivated with the handguns!

My goal will to make it happen with one shot I think?

Shoot a couple mags practicing and testing the weather conditions and getting the scope right maybe?
Then set up a target and see if I can make one shot one kill? ;-)

If it's any consolation, I can't even see a penny at 50 yds without a scope, no matter the weapon. :?

That's part of the reason I was thinking "screw that" when you said handguns at 50 yards!

That and I can see myself shooting a couple hundred rounds and never even touching the penny unless by accident?

"Handguns" refers to rimfire. I've seen some pretty accurate long barrel rimfire handguns with scopes.

Where I split it was with centerfire. Pistols are nothing like Revolvers here. Scoped, large caliber, long barreled revolvers can be deadly accurate out to 100 yds +, even if the bullet is the same size as a penny.

True...but you have to be good enough with one of those for the gun to show it's capability!
And I kinda doubt I would do the gun justice?  ;-)

One good thing though is that the gun will do you justice.
That's the point here.

Just about every weapon made is more capable than the person using it, so the error is in the person, not the weapon.

If the person can become "attached" to the weapon and bring it's qualities and theirs to a higher level, they deserve a special place, no matter the weapon they choose IMO.

At 75 yds, I'd take a slug in the shin as opposed to a .22 in the head.
That's the user, not the weapon.

New "Sniper" rank has been made and is available to those who dare try.
Certified "Snipers" will have this title displayed below their name and the name will be displayed in this
Who will be the first to be included into this special title?
Post count does not matter here.

Well it is not a penny but I watched my dad hit a 5in. plate, open sighted at 100yrd, with my .38 J-Frame snubby.
So any big bore revolver should be able to make the shot if the shooter can hang.

The prospect of tyranny may not grab the headlines the way vivid stories of gun crime routinely do. But few saw the Third Reich coming until it was too late. The foreign policy of the US has been one of "empire building" ever since the First World War. The Constitution authorizes government to provide for "national DE-fense", not "international OF-fense". If Americans were really interested in promoting our national safety, they would realize that a policy of constant foreign intervention directly undermines that stated goal. Our country has military forces stationed in 135 countries around the world, and we are influencing their governments and economies either directly or indirectly in every case. That is the political equivalent of poking them in the eye with a sharp stick.
