Looks to me like the gouge was probably caused by the base of a round during a jam? I would tend to think it was the result of and not cause of the jam and the jam possibly caused by limpwristing. How does your wife hold the pistol when shooting?

Like a girl. Seriously. I love her, but when I try to explain things to her, she thinks I'm being a dick to her. What am I gonna do?

I thought about that. There is a really nice Taurus 38 special I have my eye on. I mean with a revolver, you have a very little chance of a misfire.

Uh, you pretty much have no chance of a misfire. I love revolvers. They're great.

This is a range report and question for tips and help.
I went out with my dad and shot my C9. I shot 3 boxes of Lellier & Bellot bullets which is made in the Czech Republic and 1 box of Remington a total of 200 rounds.
For the first time ever have I had so many FTE and double feeds. I took a q-tip and cleaned the ramp, shot 50 Remington bullets through it with no problem. I have always liked the L&B bullets, I think maybe they are a little dirtier and foul up the ramp. I would say in total I had about 5 or 6 problems. I even had 1 bullet that I had to pop out of the barrel with a q-tip.
Now for my question. I have heard a lot of people say that when they buy a new HP they polish the ramp. I feel that the ramp is getting fouled, because as I shoot more and more I have to give the slide a little forward assist when I jack a new round into it.
Is there any truth to polishing the ramp, and if so how? With a Dremmel?

It just took me by surprise because my C9 has always been 99.9 percent every time.

If it worked fine before you switched ammo it's just about guaranteed to be the ammo and not the firearm.

If you want your handgun to work with ammo it doesn't like you're got to figure out where the problem is and modify it there.

If it's good ammo -- and in my experience Sellier & Bellot is good ammo -- It's usually a magazine or feed ramp problem.

So, yeah, polishing the feed ramp will probably help.

I have always shot Sellier and Bellot ammo. It's been good to me.
How exactly in step by step instructions do I polish the ramp? Really, I don't wanna tear the thing up. Help a brother out, old blind man to his grass hopper. Lol.

A dremmel is faster, but you have more of a chance of screwing things up....... I use a very fine sandpaper, and use my finger and work it until the ramp is a very high shine that you can see yourself in, without removing any large amounts of metal and changing the angle of the ramp.

Remember that the ramp is part zamak and when you get close to the chamber you can see a fine line where you change over to the steel of the barrel.

The zamak will change and remove faster than the steel of the barrel.

Any problems post in the pistol section so more people will see your question.

Will do Walt. Sorry for posting in the wrong section. But since I'm here. What grain of sandpaper?

No problems my friend. I dont have any sandpaper lying around here right now to get any numbers, but it would be the sandpaper that you use on a car as the final prep before painting..... very very small grit. 2000 grit? Someone please correct me if I am wrong here.

You dont want to take too much off or you can make the problem worse.

It may take 30 minutes of doing it the way I describe, but I feel you get the best results.

I love my dremmel, but you can sure screw something up fast with it unless you know what you are doing.

Ok thanks Walt. I will post in a better area. I'm sending my wife for some really fine sand paper.
This is why this forum fucking rules. Good help and no smart ass comments. Except Amp, but you gotta love a guy who likes no one.

Thanks.. Mech

I know about Amp's reputation. I talk shit about him all the time. Lol. However to be honest, he does have some good advice. I hope I don't offend him by saying good things about him.
