Leave the magazine sit for a couple weeks fully loaded.

Deburr and adjust the feed lips of the magazine.

What kind of ammo? Steel case, brass.

Ditto, what kind of ammo? If you have calipers, what is the over all length (OAL) of the bullets you're having the issue with?

Is it every round or just the first couple from each mag?

More info will help us help you! ;)

And welcome to the forum Bowler!!!

It only fails to go into battery on the first few shots. Ammo is speer lawman 115 gr fmj and perfecta 155 gr fmj. There are fewer problems with the perfecta but still a few on a full mag. Perfecta is made by Fioci, the speer i'm not to fond of.

Ammo Speer Lawman, and Perfecta (by Fiocci) more problems with speer , not as much with the Fiocci. All are in the first few rounds.

Try the first two things I mentioned. If those don't work then polish the feed ramp.

The first two are pretty common problems for the c9. I'm not a fan of polishing the feed ramp since it's easy to make a mess of things.

I would suggest you partially load a few mags, shoot them and see if it does it then. You mag springs may be still tight and is causing drag on the bottom of the slide with the bullets when full.

If so, load the mags fully and let them sit to break in the spring.

This ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

Leave them FULL for a few weeks to weaken (slightly) the mag springs.

Also, use some 800 grit paper on the underside of the mag lips to remove any burr from the factory stamping process.

Thanks for all the info. Went back to the range one week later and only a couple of battery problems. No problems with Perfect or Hornady 124 gr hp. Tried some American Eagle, 95% feed ok, a couple hicups so gonna stick with the Perfecta by Fiocci. Once thanks and be safe out there.

I think you just have a "break-in" problem Bowler. More use and leaving the mags full should resolve these issues!

Mags siting full, and debur the underside of the mag lips to relieve binding and smoothen the striping of first couple rounds! ;)

Have fun!!!

I polished the feed ramp and all the problems went away. Thanks for all the help. Maybe Hipoint should look into not coating the feed ramp.

I hate it when problems go away after polishing the feed ramp. :groan: The feed ramp is NOT the problem. My guess is that something else was done while also polishing the feed ramp. Like the gun was disassembled for the polishing and then thoroughly cleaned inside. But the success is attributed to the work done on the feed ramp and not the cleaning. Nobody wants to polish a feed ramp for no reason right? It's hard to say for sure, but I doubt if the feed ramp ever has anything to with the it. If it did the factory would not paint it. They have been in business long enough to know better now.

Agreed, the gun needs time to "break in" on its own. The best thing you could do is just shoot it more, or start sanding stuff down. Things will loosen up a little after about 500 rounds.
