Tried to do a take down on my c9 and the slot on the slide doesn't fully line up with the pin. Any suggestions?

I believe that's common to all of them. Almost takes 3 hands. Lock the slide open with the slide lock.

Then, I use a padded bench so the pin can drive though into the padding. Right hand holds the slide back just the smidge needed to remove the pin, the other hand pushes the pin
through using a pin punch. Hammer has not been needed on mine... it's tight but doesn't require a hammer.

Usually, the "offset" of the slot can be gotten around with a little wiggling.

What did you use to file it?

Welcome to the forum. Since you're new here and seem nice enough, I'm gonna be nice. Your answer is in your question.

I used a file of course. Since I have many of them I'll be a little more specific. I used a 6" mill/bastard file with the slide removed. A file can be pretty aggressive so go slow And check often.

I'd bet your grandpa could do a man's job. I quit doing real work years ago and went to school-teachin' but I still got a spud wrench or two in the toolbox.
