I'm guessing it's a staged photo for the article. Imagine the crap he'd get from fellow officers for carrying a 380 and a Hi Point. You might get away with one or the other, but both? You'd have to be pretty thick skinned for all the ribbing you'd get. I think I read it here, that law enforcement is trending away from 40 and back to 9mm.

I know two officers that carry 40cal pistols and 40 cal carbines while working extra jobs. The department they work for will not them use the department gun for off duty work. They guard construction sites and work guarding grocery stores in a bad neighbor hoods at night, the 24 hour stores. I'm the one one who turned them on to the HPS. They like the combos because the mags interchange and the carbines are short and handy and don't cost a fortune. They like the guns AND SWEAR THEY HAVE NEVER HAD PROBLEM WITH THEM AFTER THE BREAK IN PERIOD. They shoot +P ball they have loaded and claim they have never had a jam or misfire with them. I have both combos 9 and 40 and have used them on many extra jobs. All of us have different guns AR-15 Mini 14's, M1A'S all kinds of pistols, but if we are going to get a personal gun taken after a shooting I would rather it be a low cost reliable gun than my 1500.00 AR-15. LET ME TELL YOU WHAT I HAVE BEEN TOLD A MILLION TIMES BY NON GUN PEOPLE. THEY WILL SAY THAT NEW HP CARBINE I HAVE DRESSED OUT LOOKS LIKE A MEAN MACHINE. I THINK IT SHOOTS LIKE ONE TOO. I'm a big Glock fan, and like my Daniel Defense carbine but I would carry my Hi point 40 and 40 Carbine as a spare any day.
