OK I figured I would open up this thread to get more reviews.
My range report for my C-9. 07/18/2011. BTW, today is my daughter's birthday.
I have 5 mags, 4, 8 rounders and 1, 10 rounder. Ok, I started off shooting Sellier and Bellot. I love these bullets, especially the price, however I think they might be a little dirtier than I would like them to be.
I shot about 3 mags of S&B and I noticed I had to forward assist the slide, obviously the ramp was getting dirty. After I put all 50 S&B bullets through the C-9, I did have a few FTE. I switched to some Independence and after about 2 mags, the slide went forward on it's own after putting in a fresh mag with no FTF or FTE. I have a shit load of Mag-Techs and PMC Bronze that my dad got me for my birthday, I don't know why I don't shoot those. I just keep hording them, for a rainy day I guess.
I think, whenever Ajole comes back online and offers up a new challenge, I'll break down and shoot my beloved bullets, I think I'll get better accuracy with them.
A new thing that I caught myself doing is double tapping my shots. I think my old Army training kicked in.
Thanks for putting up with my useless info, but I'm going to try to keep and active record of my range reports.
Maybe next time, I'm going to shoot my JHP .45. It's been crying to throw some lead.

Thanks for a great forum.... Mech

i really need to go shoot my c9.. its been probably 2 months since ive put any rounds through it... and if i remember Ajole did put up another challenge this month.. HiPoint weapons ONLY i believe..

edit: here it is.. CODGER took over since ajole was slacking ;) and i was wrong.. not just hipoints.. but weapon used must use a Caliber than a hipoint can also use... so pretty much pistol calibers.. 380, 9mm, 40 and 45acp ... we really need more people to participate with these...

Oh ok, my bad. I can do that. I will do that. I hope I can talk my dad into going tomorrow. If not, next week. It may take my brother a minute to print them off. I'm glad it's black and white because he kind of bitches when it's color because of the ink. I can't blame him, inks expensive. I blame it on Osama Obama. Lol.

I kind of feel like disqualifying myself from the challenges, not trying to belittle anyone, and all respects to anyone who shoots, just that I don't feel comfortable with me in the challenge. Now, as for tuning or repairing a Hi point carbine, I would go head to head with almost anyone..... :doublegun:

Went to the range today to qualify for the July challenge. Nothing to report. Everyone and their mother was there. I shot 20 rounds out of my .45 and called it a day. No malfunctions though, that's a good thing.

That's always a good thing ;)

Took my employer's son to FIL's property for a day of shooting the other day. I took 5 handguns, 5 rifles and a 12ga. slug gun. He seemed to enjoy shooting everything I took, but really liked the 995TS. He put 200 rounds through it. When he shot the slug gun he said 'Oh my God', took 2 more shots and was done with it. I shot an exploding pistol/.22 target with my Gluck 23 (.40SW) to see if it would actually work. It did. I shot an exploding rifle target with my Enfield (.303 Brit.) and had him shoot 2 more. Those are always big fun.

Speaking of my range report. I saw a 995 TS with a scope that wasn't a 4 power scope that comes with the gun. So my understanding is, you can put any scope on a 4595 TS you want, right?
Now I know it's a carbine that shoots pistol rounds, so what is truly the maximum effective distance to sight one in at? I see no reason to put a 32 power scope on a gun that won't keep a good group at 100 yards.
Or am I nuts?

There are many people that can hit targets out to 200 yds with the carbines, and some people have had luck arcing the bullets out as far as 300 yds....

but I personally think the max effective range is 100 yds, and I would not consider them powerful enough to drop a deer at even that close a range

I agree 100%, Waltham. If I had to shoot a BG at 100yd and a TS was the only long gun I had available, I would have to make do with it. I have too much respect for wild game to shoot a deer at that range with a TS. Yes, a good clean shot at that distance will kill a deer, but if you've misjudged the distance or the wind, or the deer moves, you've got a wounded deer you may not recover.

200 yards is doable with my 4095, but it takes lots of practice to efficiently shoot that far. It's more of a lob than a straight shot with 180 gr. Never tried any 160 gr though. I would have no faith in accurately hitting anything that far with any repeatability.
I think even at 100 the .40 would begin losing its effectiveness, so I claim 75 yds as a maximum, also in part because of accuracy with open sights. YMMV

Ok fellas, my first day off in almost 2 weeks so Rainee and I are heading to the range. She's taking her .380 and I'm taking my .45 and my .22.
I'm hoping it's not crowded so I can get my new .22 scope sighted in at 50 or 75 yards. We haven't went shooting together by ourselves for a very long time. It's like going on a date with her whenever we can get rid of our kid for a few hours and just have our alone time.

Ok, once I got the scope sighted in, I was tack driving at 50 yards. It's not an expensive scope so I don't think I really need to go much farther out, especially for squirrel hunting. Rainee seemed to be scared to shoot it at first, I don't know why, but when she finally did shoot it, she shot the Hell out of those targets and shot up all my ammo. Now, she wants one. Lol.

Range report for today.
I ran 100 rounds out of the C9. No problem except from the 10 rounder didn't want to LRHO, my dad had flipped the spring. It's fixed.
I really like that Frog Lube. This new Weapon's Shield better be, well better.

Bieber Fever! Lol. Took my daughter's poster out to the range today with her blessing. My dad and I had fun shooting. I feel that I got pretty decent groups with my new Mahan Sights, when I was aiming, my dad I think was all over the place with his East German Makarov he just got.
First time I ever got to shoot a Mak, it was so smooth and very little recoil. He said that his P-83 is even smoother, I find it hard to believe anything could be any smoother to shoot. He just texted me that he just went and picked up a Bulgarian Circle 10 today. It was a nice day shooting and really had a good time spending time with my dad. I've been working so much lately, it's getting fewer or farther between.
