Here is my range report and initial review of the 4095TS, first time ever shooting the weapon and without the scope or any other accessories yet.

I wanted a replacement carbine for my Calico I recently sold but in .40 S&W like the rest of my pistols. The SUB-2000 is even harder to find and cost a bit more than a Hi Point. The Beretta CX4 would be great to go along with my Cougar but cost more than my Calico I sold(defeats the purpose.)
So why not buy brand new Hi Points, a pistol and a carbine for .40 S&W, some extra mags and accessories for the same price as Kel-Tec SUB-2000? Id be lucky to get a Kel-Tec SUB2000 for under $450, even if I could find one locally which is impossible. The carbine will see a lot of range time and maybe some hunting. The pistol is going to serve "Truck Gun" duty.
I called every gun store within 50 miles and nobody had new in the box Hi-Points, I am not going to lie it was frustrating. Called one from Hi Point dealer locator. Finally found one, the place had a used 9mm on from the 90's. I told him politely I wanted a new one and gave me all his FFL information so I could order one online.
Lucked out I guess, found a Class three FFL dealer who operates without advertisement, more word of mouth than anything. He sold me the last new Hi Point carbine within a 100 miles radius of Austin, TX, no sales taxes, shipping or waiting period. Went and picked it up today. I also got a nice carbine soft case for it and some Federal law enforcement .40 S&W 165 grain, total it was $320. I canceled my order with Buds, but I still had them send me everything besides the carbine. Here it is:

Made it to a nearby indoor range for a really short test run. I couldn't wait to test her out, used five, ten round magazines so a total of fifty rounds. I used to shoot my friends old 9mm carbine when I was a teenager, and boy this gun really brings back some fun memories. As you can see in the picture of the target below, my first magazine grouping is in the top right corner. I was aiming center mass in the center of the target, so obviously everything was high to the right. Easy fix, starting getting tight grouping dead center at 25 yards, then finished off the next two magazines at 50 yards, still leans to the right a little bit at 50 yards as you can see. Only one FTF(failure to feed & failure to fire,) 1 outta 50 is not bad. I checked out the round and it got stuck on the feed ramp, did not really bother me though cause the gun is being broken in, that is to be expected occasionally. Over-all, I was extremely impressed with accuracy and performance for a weapon that is considered by some to be at the bottom of the carbine totem pole. I am 100% satisfied with my purchase, this could the beginning to a great friendship. I called Hi-Point to ask about suggested break-in ammo. They were very polite and answered all my questions, very professional, and helpful. Since this initial firing, I have installed the HI POINT 4X32 scope, removed the iron sights, installed a forward grip, compensator, and Winchester bi-pod. Next range visit will be zeroing of the scope and a video for the 100 yard sniper contest.

Thanks all, there will be an additional review because of the scope, which changes everything really. I zeroed it in tonight at 50 yards. Hopefully soon I can get a 100 yard video up with a new target. That compensator they sent me looked like it had been through a garbage disposal. Im gonna paint this sucka ricky tick!

I'm sure if you contacted them about the beat up comp they'd gladly replace it for free. ;)

I painted it...I got bored and actually enjoyed doing it myself. Used 400 wet sandpaper, Rustoleum primer and black gloss paint. Took about 20 minutes...Id rather do it myself then mail it in and wait another week.

And I commend you for that Long Shot! :thumb:
Taking care of stuff yourself is not only rewarding but also empowering. Plus it saves Mom money and hassles from having to replace something that most anybody playing with guns could handle. ;)
