Can someone please tell me what ammo is recommended for the 4095TS? Also is the .40 Cal ammo for a hand gun the same as the .40 Cal ammo for the 4095TS? :stupid:

There's not really a preferred ammo for the .40, AFAIK, and yes, the handgun and carbine can shoot the same stuff.

I have quit using Winchester White box, there have just been too many bad stories about it, and I have also measured some significant OAL differences in one box. There is other stuff that is cheaper now, so I stay away from WWB.

Other than that....I have had no issues with any of the .40 I have used.

Welcome to the forum.... buy a couple of boxes of different ammo and see what your carbine likes the best... nothing wrong with WWB if it cycles good in YOUR weapon.

On the off chance that you are new to firearms, or to pistol calibers....the ammo you need will be marked .40 Smith and Wesson, .40 S&W , .40SW or something like that. Both guns use the same ammo. You may find one or the other doesn't want to work well with ammo from a particular manufacturer, especially before the guns are broken in. This is normal for guns from about any manufacturer, not just a Hi-Point thing. So, if one doesn't work well with a certain ammo, just buy a different kind (but still .40 SW) and try it.

One more thing... :welcome: to HPT. It may seem like our purpose here is to poke fun at each other, but we really do like to answer peoples questions. So, If/when you have any others to ask, please do. In the mean time, join in so we can poke at you. :roflol:

my 4095 has never disliked any kind of ammo. I ran either WWB or Remington UMC for about 250 rds when it was new and now it shoots anything.
I occasionally run 'cheap' Remington JHP through just to test.

I don't own anything in .40 SW, but I really like Federal for 9mm and .45 ACP.

In the 4095, I have found that for accuracy, S & B and Blazer work the best. It will shoot about anything but those 2 seem to work the best for me. I would stay with the brass, or aluminum case for starters. My preference is the blazer TMJ 165 gr. for most accuracy for target shooting with the 4095 carbine. I know others have tried 135gr. in .40 S&W, but to date, I have not tried those, so I can't say good/bad about them.

I've shot over 300 rounds of Russian steel ammo through mine with no FTf or fte on any of em and that stuff is the cheapest dirtiest stuff you can find. Eats em up like candy. I have a 995ts. Not sure if that makes a difference or not.

I guess I'm a cheapskate for not buying brass but so far so good.

Anything with a brass casing should work reliably. As far as steel or Nickel casings I hear they work ok just not as consistent as the brass.

I don't have a carbine either but I do have a c9. I broke it in with brass WWB and have since moved to use the Blazer aluminum with excellent results. At least with the aluminum I don't have to crawl around on my hands and knees looking to police my brass. That may change as soon as I buy a reloading machine though. I can feel my knees aching already. I'm gonna have to fashion a brass catcher for my pistol. Something I can nail to my upper arm :thinkin: :thinkin: :hmmm: :hmmm: :hmmm:

Get one of those contraptions made to pick up pecans... looks like a metal wire ball on the end of a stick. Works good with most brass.

They do make them sized specifically for picking up brass, but I shoot in the grass mostly where they don't work. I usually lay out tarps next to my shooting positions which does a wonderful job. DW just got me a 6'x18' piece of nylon netting fabric, hot pink of course, to make a 9'x12' screen to catch my brass. I love that woman.

I have heard of the ones that are actually for brass, but have heard that they are much more expensive than the ones made for pecans.

I have tried the tarp trick, but its seems that most of my guns are as flaky as I am and throw brass all over the place

That's why I like to use 11x23 ft canvas tarps. The SKS, though, stills sends the empties over the tarp. That's why I'm switching to the screen.
