Yeah, he's a little too "intense" for his own good.

here y'all go, I used the sling wrap method to aid accuracy
this first one was not my best, I was trying to fire a little too fast, two fliers, or sinkers maybe
Image

this one is very slow rate of fire, probly at least 15-20 sec between shots
Image

eta 10 shots each pic

thanks, Croz. I was trained with a rifle. anybody can shoot well if they'll just practice and rely on repetition of good habits. It was indoors so there was no wind factor

I don't wear glasses Ape!! (yet, but I imagine it's coming in the next 10 or so years like it did for Dad, he was pushing 50 when he got his first cheaters)

thanks
25 yd. give or take a couple of feet. They don't have measurements marked off that far at the indoor place I go to, but I was the only one there that night and they let me step it off. It was basically as far back as the wire went.

thanks again. I give myself very good odds of being able to hit a man size target if they foolishly enter my home! i didn't photograph the other targets from that night, but my handgun failure (2 shots to COM, 1 head) drills have been steadily improving also. Out of 12 mags, 7-8 shots outta my 45, I only had 2 misses, both head shots. All the COM shots would be stoppers i do believe. Same scenario with my 40, 12 mags, 12 shots each and I missed only 5 head shots.
the barrel sure was hot after that!!! Only downside is that is was a very spendy trip to the range (ammo) Sure felt great when I left though!

It always feels good to hit the range and spend some pent up angst! ;-)

Do you ever try and practice any form of "high stress" shooting condition?

I try with a couple types of drills just to see how much my accuracy might suffer.
But of course no matter how I try and replicate that type of shooting it'll never match up to something in reality if I was ever unlucky enough to see it. :-?

I do that. Try pushups or situps before sending a few. People look at you weird, believe me. Yesterday I sprinted out to the 100 yd mark place target, then back. shot 8 in high and right first two shots! I of course blame it on a cold barrel
You are correct though, nothing is a proper substitute for adrenaline combined with real life situations.

ETA this was also an hour and a half after about 3-3.5 mile hike with a bag full of camera gear, at least 25-30 lbs, I would reckon. My ankles are sore as hell today.

You put way more effort and physical fitness into it than I do! lol

My buddy and I have done the push up thing before shooting a few times though.

Mostly what I do is have the wife or kid yell a "key word" when they think I'llleast expect it. Which is my signal to draw and fire and reload and fire again.
It can really freak you out and get the adrenaline pumping to be sure.

The other thing we do is use a rolling target stand that I built that's attached to a rope. We then take turns drawing and firing on a rapidly encroaching target. We also take turns using that target stand as a stationary target. And when we feel one of us isn't prepared we grab the rope and send it at ya! ;-)
