This equals . . .

Image
This!

Image
What? Handgun Guy trying to be Rifle Guy?

Image
Very American with a touch of Russia.

Image
Right To Bear Arms!

Image
Now my buddy is Rifle Guy.

Image
One more time . . .

Image
Ten shots (5 and 5) from both of us going about 40+ yds. I shot first and my first shot went high.

Image
My friend's FIL shooting my 995.

I know I am Handgun Guy but for some reason I am liking the idea of becoming Rifle Guy. The power of the Mosin is freakin' off the hook!!! I shot standing from 100yds out and suck. I didn't hit the paper. I hit under it. I will bag rest it next time. I only had 20 rounds and shot 14 (my friend 6). Now my friend wants either a Mosin or a Mauser.

One thing I have to ask, what is it with the recoil? I was expecting to get jacked up from the force. It didn't bother me at all.

Can't see the pics....yet of course.
The recoil aint that bad. It's the repeated recoil from heavy ball rounds and a shorter Mosin that'll get ya. ;)

It don't bother me either Mxd and I'm a skinny old man. Guess some are just more "senthitive".
The shorter carbines apparently "feel" harder but the ballistics tend to support the 91/30 as having more. The extra length and weight subdue it somewhat.

The mosbutt is nice. But the new slip on I just got for the 91/30 is even better! ;)
I noticed last time I was at Gander Mountain they had some 203 grain boxes.

I can understand the carbines doing it a little. Without setting off alarms in Ape's perverted mind, it doesn't bother me to get roughed up by any gun or rifle.

Okay. That did it.

I know I will pay for this remark, but if it doesn't hurt a little, you ain't doing something right when you are shooting.

The short MN carbines with the 200gr bullets are the ones that have a kick (and a sweet fireball), but as long as you pull the rifle into your shoulder properly, it is manageable.

OK, I give. Where exactly do you put the butt of the rifle in to shoulder? I usually center it right in the crook of my shoulder, equally between my peck and forearm. After a range trip with either my 91/30 or my Mossberg, my shoulder is sore. More so with longer outings.

I meant upper arm not forearm...Oops.

I didn't know if I needed it more on my arm or peck.

I put the buttstock on the pectoral of your upper chest right where it joins your arm. Not out on the arm itself.

MxdAzn9, IMO your form looks fine, with practice you will get better at hitting the target.

Cool. Because I'm Handgun Guy trying to be Rifle Guy. I don't want to embarass the Rifle Guy Frat. And it's gonna take a lot of practice to hit some paper from 100yds out. Good thing surplus ammo is cheap!
