Went shooting last Friday with the 995. I was hoping for the best, but preparing for the worst due to my recent woes. When I got to my spot I was already off to a bad start. Some thug type people (shorts handing off their asses, shooting the handguns with one hand, etc.) were shooting in my typical area. So I had to move to a different area. And it was windy as hell. I mean frickin' windy. So I set up my target (had to stake it down and put some rocks on it) and got prepared to send a few downrange and possibly have to tinker with the 995.

Well, no tinkering was needed. Front sight stayed on nice and tight, and all three mags fed perfectly. Accuracy was decent, but my grouping was to the left of the bulls-eye due to the severe wind (I was shooting at 30 yds).

I put 90 rounds through it and I was very happy. I've decided to avoid remanufactured ammunition. Every jam I had was with either Ultramax or HSM ammo (both of which are remanufactured). So my 995 is back to being a very enjoyable gun. Can't wait to go shoot again. Hopefully with a little less wind next time.

good to hear it shootin right again for you. Ive never used any remanufactured ammo, but I will definitely avoid it now if it was causing your 995 not to shoot right. glad its worked out now

Congrats monr! :great:
I take it your sight was loose last time and that's what caused your aiming woe's?

Good for you monr! Great shooting. Like I really didn't want a THIRD 995 anyway.

Were they holding the handguns sideways too? I know the type... hate them. Glad you had a good day shooting. I just had my first good day of shooting, and I know how great it feels. Glad to hear your recent troubles didn't make a repeat appearance.

Congrats on the good shooting, make sure your front sight is perfectly straight up and down where it clamps to the barrel. That can make you hit off to one side or the other.

Happy shooting Dave Gillespie - (Sharp Shooter), you will be missed and remembered.

We will miss you Jerry Roberts - (woodyubet), you will not be forgotten.

We are better off from having known you Dean Stephens -(ampersand) It wont be the same around here without you.

Nice! Good to hear it's back and working well. I was supposed to go to the range and check out my latest 995 tweaks on Sunday, but illness in the family knocked that off the table. That must have been a pretty stiff wind to blow 'em off-course like that.

The wind has ridiculous. Really pissed me off.

That is what I am guessing.

No, not sideways, but they were decked out in their baggy clothes, had the car door open playing rap music. Stuff that doesn't belong at a public shooting area.

I'm thinking that might have put the rounds of to the side as well as the wind. The wind was damn strong, but when I got home it looked to me like the front sight might have been a little off center (which I remedied) The wind had to have factored in some though. I've never shot in wind like that.

I understand about the wind, but IMO it would take a hell of a wind to blow the bullets that far off at that short a range. That is why I suggested checking the front sight. ;)

Our range can have windy days that will drive a high powered battle rifle round inches off at 100 yds. I can sympathize with you.

Wind is the only form of weather I truly hate! It'll screw up anything and everything you could want to do IMO. :?
