I know what Mom says about not having to clean the weapon until after 1000 rounds, but that is one thing I will never agree with. I fire mine, I clean mine,, before it gets put away.
One thing I have learned is that after breaking it down for the 4th time, it breaks down a lot easier and I now have the pattern down, It's quick and easy. Not like the C-9.

I agree 100%. I never put a weapon away dirty.

Putting a weapon away dirty is kinda like Ape puttin' on dirty underwear for the 5th day! ROFLOL Um, I think it was...
Yep! Musta been someone that's no longer here that told me that. That's my story and I'm sticking to it!

Ape, if you're watching, that's a challenge for you to get active again! ;)

If the mentally deficient are not allowed to own guns then why should they be allowed to make gun laws?

After trip to the range, my guns sit in their case until I get the urge to clean them.

When I "feel like it" I have more fun cleaning them!! (-:

My very first introduction post here was me saying that the 1000 round clean was stupid. Amp made fun of me. Hard to believe that was over two years ago for me

Put away your guns??!! Never heard of doing THAT before! My modern propellant guns (not WWII vintage or foreign ammo) get cleaned occasionally, sometimes after every outing, sometimes not, depends on how busy I am resting or doing other super important nothings. Guns like the Mosin get a thorough cleaning every time due to corrosive ammo. Might be why I don't shoot the Mosin very often anymore. My homerolled ammo guns get cleaned if there is any unburnt powder left in the barrel and then it's just an oiled patch down the barrel. A complete teardown or even a field strip is dependent on how easy the gun is to strip. Nevertheless, I don't feel the need to clean after the so few rounds I put through anything. If after I hit a couple hundred rounds in one sitting I'll normally do a thorough cleaning. That's not too often, my normal trip to the backyard, regardless of gun, consists of a mag or two- tops.

Mr. Hobbles, why do you say the c9 is hard to strip? Is it due to the slide needing held back to get the notch to line up with the drift pin? If so my cure for that was a cutoff blade in my dremel and some file work (for smoothing the cut) to lengthen the slot enough to allow access to the roll pin. Then some toothpick application of a touch-up paint in black. The gun is not a display model by any stretch so aesthetics, to me, is secondary to ease of use. YMMV
