Shooting my 4595 TS , it seemed to fire out of battery.
Bolt jammed part way back.
I/2 of the empty stuck in front of the bolt
The other 1/2 blew out and cut my hand.
Base and web of the brass OK
Bullet stuck part way down the bore

Trying to get the bullet out but no luck so far.
Anything else I should check ?

I had already fired 2 mags and 6 of the mag when it let go.

I think I'd call Mom if it was me
They shouldn't be able to fire out of battery

It had just been checked by MoM as it had a bent barrel when I bought it NIB.
They replaced the barrel and this was the 2nd time shooting it after getting it back. The first time I shot it after getting it back I shot 27 rds. (3 mags) and then started on 3 mags yesterday but didn't get to shoot all three.

kengrant, that is not good!!
Something is still wrong there, IMHO.

I would call mom and tell them what happened, and send it back
with the bullet stuck in it and send whatever is left of the brass too.

I'll bet they just send you a brand new one!!

Ditto both comments above! Out of battery (I'm sure I don't need to tell you) can be lethal!!! These were factory rounds, yes?
Mom will LIKELY replace the whole carbine with new! And they will likely test it AGAIN before sending, as you've just gotten that
one back from obvious issues.

Only thing I could think of is either the firing pin is protruding from the bolt and bent enough that it is stuck sticking out, or the sear didn't lock the firing pin back and it was protruding from the bolt face when it went to chamber the round.

Either way, not a good or normal happening. I would get on the phone, and talk to mom. I would even ask for them to pay shipping both ways since you just got the gun back.

Keep us posted on how they take care of you please.

Glad you were not hurt worse than you were.

Walts explanation is pretty much dead on. The ejector is the firing pin. When fhe bolt comes back the firing pin ejects the round. The firing pin is a fairly soft metal. If it bends it sticks. Even if the sear doesnt catch they usually just burp out a mag and you are fine. What sounds like happened to you was the firing pin got bent. Possibly a double feed. And it bent the pin usually upwards. If you get the brass out look to see where the strike is on the primer.

I made my carbine go full auto in front of the sheriffs department one day and talk about a stare down. But that was a sear issue. It surely didnt blow up

I'm surprised the stare down was all there was!!! What was the issue that made it go full auto?

I had a brain lapse and got a click , checked the mag and it was not seated well.
Worked the bolt and then BANG!!!!!!!! .
I had a squib rd. that caused the click and didn't check as I should have. I knew better than this but did it anyway.
Called in to send it home and told what I did and wanted to know how to pay for repairs and was told no charge.

Sent it in with a note telling what happened and I wanted to pay for repairs as it was totally my fault .
Also in the note I asked about purchasing spare firing pins and springs for the 4595 as well for my 995.

A week later , I received the parts in the mail with no charges included.
Don't know about the 4595 yet but I am sure it will be taken care of.

Hi-Point ---- Best customer service anyone could ask for.

Makes me want to buy another carbine in .380

There's always that reason why we like 'em. Not only do they work, but if there's an issue, they take care of it!

Ken, if you buy the 380, post a review. I'm on the fence and need a nudge. With the new found popularity of the 380 cartridge, ammo prices have come way down. And since a Hi Point will shoot anything once it's broke in, even the cheapest steel cased crap will do for plinking or varmint control. There must be almost zero recoil when the diminutive round leaves the barrel, allowing quick follow-up shots.

Update on my 4595.

Got an e-mail from Fed-X that it would be delivered today and gave me a tracking number.
By 7 PM it still had not showed up so I checked the number and it showed being delivered at 3:51 today.
Then called Fed-X customer service and they said it was signed for.

I didn't sign for it and don't have it and told them so . Now I have to call in in the morning and see what is going on.

This is the 3rd. time I have had delivery problems with Fed-X (which I have not used much) but never had problems with UPS which I have used a lot.

I won't use FedEx anymore, UPS or post office, sometimes Speedy Delivery but they don't go everywhere.

The post office gives me the most trouble here. I would raise holy hell with FedEx and tell them they have a stolen missing firearm floating out there that is their fault.

Keep us posted on this Ken! I for one would not mind calling SpreadEx 3 or 4 times a day and asking them about the firearms they are loosing/delivering to wrong locations and reminding them that they are liable.
