I'm going to start working on a couple new holsters an want a little input on the construction.

Now that I have a pocket pistol I need a holster for it. Randy suggested a part for a spare mag in another post which I'm giving some thought to. The more input the better since I've never done one before.

The next one will be for the SCCY CPX-2. I'm thinking of something like this but IWB, I made this one OWB and easy to take on and off.

I used to try to make these pretty and functional but pretty adds a lot of time for something you don't usually get to see so I'm all about function.

Any input you all have is appreciated.

I dunno about adding a mag holder to a pocket holster anymore now that I see the reinforced top band you added to this one. My suggestion was to help hold the holster open when done intimidating the bad guys but that band looks like it would function for that. I would think a mag holder would be better if it was available to the off hand instead, I know I cannot load a new mag into any of my pistolas with just one hand. So having to reach across, much less sticking it down inside your pocket ( ) ....not very likely.

New suggestion is to make a two piece kit for selling. Fitting the front or back pocket, IWB, or whatever, the mag(s) holder and the pocket holster would be a matched pair. And you could advertise like Fords, you can order any color you want as long as it's black ... ;)

I think the pocket holster might throw me for a loop.

I think it would best be made with rough out leather or the split on the outside so it holds on to the pocket fabric better. All it would do is protect the trigger and hammer (if there is one). And maybe break up the print pattern some.

Well, this is what I came up with for my TCP.

I've been carrying it for a couple weeks now and am pretty happy with it.

My dilemma with this project was what folks expect from a pocket holster. I expect it to protect my gun and cover the trigger to prevent any negligent discharge. The fit on the gun isn't tight, retention wasn't a concern since it's in my pocket. I used some fairly light leather and I like it. Opinions? What are others looking for in a pocket holster?

I would want something that
1) covers the trigger to prevent a ND in my pocket
2) keeps any items in my pocket from getting into the barrel of the pistol
3) stays in my pocket when I draw the pistol

That's just me though ;)

It has the trigger covered, that was my first concern as well.

I can redesign a little and close the bottom to cover the end of the barrel, I generally don't have anything else in that pocket though.

So far it stays in my pocket when I draw.

I made it out of lighter leather to keep a slim profile and have a couple other things in mind for it. If you're one of those guys that wears tight pants the holster will collapse when drawn but I don't consider that a bid deal.

I'll post the next generation when I get it done.
