Since I had to take the trash out, an since my shooting range is near my dumpster, an since it was nice, and since I hadn't shot my Shield 9 for a while, I decided to drop the trash off at the dumpster, continue on another 50 ft and empty 2 mags of my current carry gun.
I'm a little rusty, but not too bad for free standing at 25 ft.
15 rounds of Freedom Munitions 9mm 115 grain.
I didn't know it when I ordered it, but these rounds are steel cased.
They are brass coated steel that look like brass.

Husker - I almost went to the range tonight for the same reason!!
A little cool - but a nice afternoon.

I've been getting an itchy JHP trigger - It's been too long!!

Ended up doing some "Gun Business" instead...
It'll be nicer tomorrow - and the whole weekend looks good too!!

I had a feller that had 2 M&P Shield's sent here for him to pick up - one for him - one for his wife.
They sure look like a nice pistol!! Not the same as an M&P 9, is it??

I wish I could afford one of everything... :doublegun:

Brass coated steel?? I wonder if that's better than just steel??
I haven't heard of it before!!
Would it be easier on the gun? Extract easier? Less wear??
Cause someone to ask a lot of questions??

The Shield is a lot smaller than the M&P 9
It's a single stack, probably about the size of a G43
They are nice guns.
I need to get my Shield 40 out and run some rounds through it.

Nice shootin' there, Husker. Do you like the Freedom Munitions ammo?
I looked at their site and pricing seems good. Anything I should know?

I ordered 500 rounds of 9mm, 250 rounds of .45acp and 150 rounds of .223
The 9mm is the only one that was steel cased, and to be honest, I can't find a spot on their website that says anything about steel.
The .45acp and .223 are both brass cased.
All in all, it seems to shoot fine though and their prices are good.
Also, they have free shipping on your first order.

I've seen way too many sloppy rounds from Freedom Munitions to ever consider buying anything from them. Folks have posted on forums and Facebook, pics of a row of 9mm that the length varied from one extreme to the other, the long and short ones I'd never even load, IF the long ones even fit in the magazine.

Wife is gone for three days so I took time today to reset the scope on the AR that I installed the replacement barrel on from Anderson. Took five shots to get it in the black. At least this barrel will HIT the black though...

I've been buying most of my ammo locally
I can get 1000 rounds of the Federal Estate for $240
Maybe not the best deal around, but it seems to be good stuff

I reload everything I shoot now except for the 7.62x39 and x54r, and .22lr of course. I not only save money but can work up the most accurate loads for my particular firearms, and avoid any of the factory mistakes that people seem to be running into a lot more frequently now that a ton of reloaded ammo is showing up. Been shooting a LOT of 124gr lead round nose in the 9mm's that is Hi-Tek coated, I get them for $33 for 500.

I too got out and did some shooting in the warmer weather. I'd picked up a couple boxes of "Perfecta" 380 at Walmart, so I set up some soup cans and got out the Bersa. Couldn't hit a damn thing with the first couple of magazines. Must have been the cheap ammo. Good thing the second half of the box was more accurate. Funny how ammo is less accurate early in the season.

Yeah, they always put the good stuff at the back of the box
