I have a very nice Ruger Standard 22 LR pistol that I'm thinking I need to sell. Serial number puts it as a 1968 vintage.

Why sell you may ask? I'm not a collector so to speak and this is worthy of being in a collection and I'd rather have something I'm not afraid to shoot.

I'll try to get some pictures up after work today.

Is it the plain Standard or one of the MK series?

Looking at actual sales on GunBroker, it looks like they are selling for anywhere from $180 to over $450 with the majority selling in the low to mid $200 range.
I'd guess it's dependent on condition

What Husker said. With the original box and papers in excellent condition you're looking at $400-$450. Normal wear and tear, it'd be more like $225-$250. 1968 is before the MK series, so what you have is a Ruger RST4.

I just took a 1978 model ruger standard with the 6 inch tapered barrel in trade, (and yes I kept it LOL)... its at about 99% and it was the pistol and 2 mags. I gave the guy 300 trade in for it. I thought it was worth that.

I see the heavy barrel target models ranging from $250-$300 all the time. Wife got hers in trade for the AR that she put together...but The MKII came with five magazines, a brick of ammo, and $300 for her $500 build.

Some long awaited pictures. Hopefully this isn't too much but, since I am selling it I want to get the best estimate I can and I can't seem to find the resources. I see a lot of things that change the value.

Thanks Ex. I really like it but I'm afraid to shoot it. I'd say it's at least 95% condition. Pictures don't do it justice.

You can't hardly screw these pistols up. A total teardown is a pain to do but rarely needed, usually just a Qtip mopping down inside the upper receiver area and a patch down the barrel are all that's required. The one the wife got was FILTHY inside, took about 50 Qtips soaked in Hoppes to get it cleaned up inside. Only failures I've ever had were duds that didn't fire no matter what. Probably the most accurate pistol I've ever shot in any caliber.

I'd kinda like to sell but always open to trades. I've been trying to find one of the g22 Le trade ins that I can afford.
