In my post I said I bought steel wheels for my truck because I didn't want to look pretentious.

I bought steel wheels for mine too, but it had nothing to do with the way it looks.
I live in mud, snow and ice most of the time, and the rest of the time is in dirt and dust.
My fancy wheels would catch odd bits of those materials in irregular places around my rims, and when I'd hit highway speeds, I felt like I was being shook to pieces. I couldn't even see what was behind me most of the time because my mirrors wouldn't hold still.
The other issue was the size, 20" rims = very expensive tires.
Since my mud, snow, ice, dirt and mud is held together with nails and pieces of wire, I need 10 ply tires just to get to work and back most days, not to mention impact breaks I tend to get on thinner tires.
20 inch were running me around $350 apiece, and 17 inch, even larger with the same diameter, 10 ply runs me about $200 a tire.
Anyway, long story short, that's why I went to steel wheels.

I wish I could get steel wheels for all my vehicles (can't afford em). Every alloy rim I own leaks air. Alloys suck for real trucks. OK, bring on the flaming....

I used to be about the cool factor, fancy wheels accessories, etc.
Then I discovered "cool" costs money.
I still like cool, but practical is taking the lead.
I would like to have dual exhaust....I can at least sound cool.

I would like to have exhaust systems that work on my vehicles...but they are all falling off. Just can't seem to get the gumption to pay for something that doesn't matter much. As it rots out I just cut it off/out so it doesn't fall off someplace. On my little Focus the exhaust has rotted out at the end of the head pipe and is only being held up there by the front hanger (all the rest of the hangers are long gone and fencing wire is holding all of the rest of it up now). The header pipe has a braided flex tube attached to it before the first muffler (they call it a resonator :dunno: :groan: ) before it goes to what they actually call the muffler. That one little 8" piece costs about $40 by itself. Installation another $60. A complete one pipe, one muffler with said flex piece is over $240 installed. That's for the least expensive pipe they had. The Dodge has a rotted out muffler, the entire rear end is gone. I pulled what guts I could out of it and wired it up solid. The truck sounds good now but too much exhaust gas enters the cab. Drive with the windows open...simple solution.

Randy, you would like my brother's work car.
It's a 95 Ford Escort wagon, and the muffler fell off years ago.
I don't know how many miles are on it, but he's been driving it for a good 10 years or so putting 50-100 miles a day on it.
When he comes to my place, I can normally hear him 2 miles away.
The auto-strangler seat belts stopped working long ago, and the speakers are crackly, but it just keeps rolling.
We named it "Vanilla Thunder"
This isn't it, but it's just like it.

The problem is that Ford Focus cars shrink over time....

Winkies? What, are we in the first grade? They are called dinky donks. :groan:  And yes, after a dunk in a cold pool they have shrinkage, much shrinkage.
