It's true, you are over obsessing on the shipping. This gun is for you. You don't have a 1911. You need one. Watch the watch...
your eyes are getting heavy, you know you need a 1911 that you'll never regret. (snap of fingers!)
Now order one!!!

Wow you fellers are on the ball here!! (-:

And Ex - My eyes are heavy already - I worked on this post 3 times - fell asleep the 1st two times...

Believe it or not - the guy buying the gun from me lives in Rapid City and drives by Cabelas everyday...
This fine young man is a self-employed real-estate broker and has a ton of respect for us little guys selling guns.
He also did a couple of tours in Afghanistan...

And customer service is so right on!!

I messaged him on FB and asked if he was interested in the P-226 Sig.
He messages me back and says he had one and didn't like it...
But can you get me a black 2" barreled Taurus Judge Public Defender??

I find him one - in the mean time - I have my 44 Magnums for sale in the paper - and zero calls about them so far.
On guy did see them and asked about a cheap 22lr pistol.
So I ordered him a polished or stainless Phoenix 22lr - I've always wanted to see one of those!!

So I ordered those 2 guns and I got the free shipping...

I didn't order myself a new 45 anything... )-:

I did find the invoice where I purchased that P226 Sig Sauer Elite - - You know what my cost on it was in September of 2013???

$832!!!

List price is $1,100 or $1,200....
It IS the 9mm Nazi Caliber

But - I have a nice Sig Sauer $1,000 gun for $475.

So - I got to thinking...

What if I just kept this Sig for myself??
I'd only have to "sell-out" my beliefs one more time - No big deal!! )-:

9mm brass is everywhere and cheap - as are the bullets.
So the 9mm is the cheapest caliber to reload.

I'd just have to give up my love for the big American 45 ACP
And learn to love the little Nazi 9mm.

And who knows - I might like the 9mm better!! I doubt it...

So that's what I'm pondering now - Maybe I'll keep Sig and go 9mm - Just thinking about it.

As a side-note - I had a fellow wanted a camera system to see his long range targets - I backordered it and it came in today.
It's one of those "Bullseye" Camera Systems.

http://bullseyecamera.com

and 10 bricks of 22 shells - both of which cost a few bucks!!

Then same fellow I ordered the Judge for texted and had me look up some 50AE Desert Eagles for him - not the gold plated ones though....
That's the customer service - How many gun dealers do you text or message to get a price quote??

So right at the moment - I'm glad I didn't spend the money for a new 45.
When I get paid for this stuff I've sold - or if I can sell the Sig sold - That'll be a better time to get one.

Someone told me the 1911 was originally designed to shoot 9mm ammo - Is that true???

The 1911 was designed for the military, I believe it's closest competition was a Savage also in 45.

I could be wrong and often am.

I think you will find the 9mm a likeable caliber. :yes2: If it makes you feel any better about it's origins we won that war :thumb: ...we took over that caliber  ....and we make more guns fitted to that caliber than anyone else in the world ;) ...that last one has no basis in fact  but it sounds about right. I bet a world class undeniable source like Wikipedia :groan: would back me up on that too.

Tolly - I think it was my brother that told me that about the 1911...
He's rich and single and bought some kinda Dan Wesson $1,500 1911 in 9mm - And I gave him shit about the wussy 9mm...
And he snapped back with the, "Oh Yeah Dumb-Ass... The 1911 was originally designed for the 9mm..."

He mighta just made that up cuz I called him a wuss...

And Randy - I think I'll just go with that...
If I keep that Sig it might make my "Dan Wesson Owning Brother" a little jealous...

And angering an an uppity older brother is priceless!! Isn't it??

Thought there are a number of 9mm variants today, I believe the original 1911 was indeed chambered for
.45. See the history here:

Something to consider, the US military replaced their .45acp pistols with 9mm luger pistols, and are in the process of replacing those 9mm luger pistols with more 9mm luger pistols. The brits are replacing their 9mm Browning hi powers with 9mm Glocks. If you have faith in the decision making process of either countries militaries, that may give you something to think about

I'm not doubting the 9mm Luger is a potent round.
And it makes sense to carry more rounds of a smaller caliber...
Ah-La The 30-06 gets replaced by the 5.56/223.
And I'm a pretty big fan of the .223 and it's extremely popular

I've just always thought the 45 ACP is so much cooler than the 9mm
John Browning designed the 1911 - My Dad had trained with a 45 ACP when he was in WW2...
And fought against the Nazi's - who carried the 9mm Luger...

It seems especially creepy to buy a 1911 in 9mm - It just seems so wrong!!
And now - everybody in the world has a 9mm and I can't really argue against it or say it doesn't make sense.
But I can say I don't necessarily have to like it!!

And not everyone is abandoning the 45 ACP!!!
If you consider that FBI HRT, FBI Swat, Marine MEUSOC, and many law enforcement agencies
throughout the United States have selected the .45 ACP as their standard service cartridge.
And I don't even know what half of those letters stand for...

As I've heard - "It's hard not to bleed through a 1/2" hole." :D

The only reason a 9mm holds more ammo is so you can shoot twice. Like ya said about bleeding through a 1/2" hole.

You are not wrong about the .45 being the coolest, if for nothing else than size and reputation.
Reminds me of the old cowboy in court when asked "Why did you shoot him with your .45?"
He replied "Because they don't make a .46".
If I had money, .45 would be my go to, but I'm poor so I shoot 9mm.

Another thing about the .45... Imagine being a perp. You are staring into the bore of a 9mm or a .45... That's a VAST difference

Speaking strictly for myself, but as one who has had the misfortune to end up looking at the business end of a gun, I didn't notice the caliber. All I saw was...GUN. :wow: I dove through a closed window, the bullet missed me, and I ran faster than The Flash ever dreamed of. Much older and (maybe) wiser now, I tend to stay away from situations likely to end like that. I learned not to go home with the twin sister of a married girl, unless I was positive it was the unmarried sister I was going home with. Of course, looking down a 10 or 12 bore might be a different story.
