Alright guys - - I think I'm serious this time...
I have a person ordering some stuff and I think I might order a new 45 ACP for myself to get the free shipping... (-:

I want to buy a new 45 ACP pistol - Thats the caliber I have all the brass and bullets for...
One I can shoot the hell out of - one that won't wear out - One that doesn't cost a lot...

SO whadda you think??

Should I get a 1911 style?? Springfield - Colt - Remington - S&W - Sig...

Should I get a non-1911 type - A Glock - or a Springfield XD - Bersa - Kahr Arms - S&W M&P or a Sig??

To be honest - I've kinda been leaning toward a:
ISRAEL WEAPON INDUSTRIES JERICHO FS-45 45 ACP

Image

Or a:
BERETTA PX4 STORM 45 ACP

Image

For a while there, I had a brand new Girsan 1911 type pistol on hand to sell - I really liked that thing!!
It was made in Turkey and I think they're called "Tisa" now, or something like that - and this supplier doesn't handle them... )-:

One of you fellers (Ex, I think??) has a Llama and likes it... But they are out of them... )-:

So - I don't know...

Maybe I should just buy another Hi-Point and use one while the other is in getting rebuilt... (-:

I Want It All - and - I Want It Now - - But I can't afford it!! (-:

Throw in your :opinion: - I'd love to hear it!!
I got till Monday to decide....

I'd go with a 1911 if I could afford it, lots of good ones available. I want a full size Springfield.

I like the M&P full size, I have one in 40 S&W and it's awesome.

I've been seeing a lot on the EAA SAR K2 in 45 and am very interested in getting one. If you decide on this one get two and I'll take one off your hands.

Im with tolly I have one of these I really like EAA SAR K2 in 45 of course I have 4 desert eagles I really like too and the beretta storm is a fine pistol .... as long as you aren't going to carry it, the 1911 is a good platform, but heavy as a brick and short on firepower in my opinion.

My favorite shooter is an RIA 1911 .45acp. Model is FS A1 5" bbl. I got lucky and caught it at a pawn shop just as it came out of pawn. I only paid $320 out the door.

I have 2 1911s. One is the turkish 'Tisas' M1A. I did some stoning internally to reduce gritty feel and installed a Wilson Combat mainspring ($15) and it's a great pistol $350 NIB!!! WAIT!!!!!! Same gun, now reduced to $329!!!!!

http://www.gunbroker.com/item/636029119
Call me if you want Jason!

I also have the Dan Wesson Heritage. Love the Wesson, like the Tisas a lot. Won't trade either of them.

I use a Chip McCormick 10 round mag so with one in the pipe, that's 11. Works for me. And if you haven't shot a 1911
you need to. You will not find a crisper trigger anywhere other than on a revolver with the hammer cocked. Short pull,
very clean crisp break.

And JMHO, EVERYONE needs at least one 1911.

1911s are great guns, and I agree everybody should have one.
As a carry gun, they aren't for everybody, they are big and they get heavy after a while.
For a shooting gun though, they are hard to beat.
I have a couple, and they aren't for sale.
In fact, I have couple 1911s on my want list....you can't have too many

Fholly Huck - You guys make this kind of a hard decision!!

What I'm thinking here is I am ordering a gun for a fellow from a supplier I haven't used very often - and they charge $25 for shipping.
If I spend a some more money, I can get free shipping.

Right away - Husker has fired off that link to the S&W M&P 45 Shield that's an insanely good offer...
It has a $75 Mail-In Rebate!!
But I don't get my free shipping I'm after. )-:
One supplier I've used has the same gun - but it's $20 more..
This supplier doesn't carry S&W - Can you believe that??
Would love to have an Shield... What a deal!! And free Shipping Too :great:
I don't know how they can sell that low.

The other concern I have about the S&W M&P 45 Shield is I don't think it's a full size pistol - Is it??l.
Not a super big deal - I'm not figuring on carrying it
And, the main thing is it'd be nice if it doesn't wear out too fast.

Looking on that site, I also saw this
http://www.springfieldpromo.com/index.html

Not money - but more free stuff!! They have an XD that holds 10 and 13 rounds.
For some reason with the ones they have, the 13 round version is $90 more than the 10 rounder.... They look Identical :hmmm:

The link Ex provided show a $329.99 (we'll say $330) 1911 and Ex has one and recommends it highly.
But, as with most GB listings, it' $35 shipping That makes it $365
Then, a 3% credit card fee making The actual cost $375.95
And I still am missing out on my Free Shipping!! I'll still end up paying $25 shipping for the other gun I'm buying...

BUT-

I can buy a RIA M1911-A1 GI for a few dollars less and get the free shipping I'm after.
That would knock the actual cost down to less than $350.
I would assume Rock Island Armory knows how to make a 1911 pistol.
The Above Is The Way I'll Probably Go.... Plus Maybe I can Score the mags and holster

I did find the Girsan I mentioned before and it looks like Buds is the only place you can get it:

https://www.budsgunshop.com/catalog/pro ... /411552651

I called them about the 1st Girsan I had for sale and they told me they have a couple guys that shoot
competitively with the Girsan and that Buds is so impressed with them they became the
Distributor and Warranty place here in the USA for Girsan.

I've had a small woody for a Kahr Arms 45 - And they have one "on-sale" kinda similar to the M&P Husker showed me.
The price for it is about the same as the M&P including the rebate - Around $275-$280. (-:
And if I get it - I also get the free shipping - Plus it's about $100 cheaper than the 1911.

I also found that ATI makes a cheap 1911 that folks must love...
My suppliers don't have any but Buds does:

https://www.budsgunshop.com/catalog/pro ... s_id/75562

$371 and free shipping from Buds - Not too bad!! Mostly good ratings too.

Anyway - I am officially paralyzed with Indecision...

Generally, I've found I am better off to not do anything when I get like this...

I still have to order that gun for my customer by this evening sometime.

So, I'll be thinking about it while I'm at our family "Easter Get-Together" today.

Methinks you are too obsessed with the $25 shipping fee. Get the M&P Shield, send in the $75 rebate and revel in the idea that you made $50 after shelling out $25 for the other guys pistola. Then charge the other guy for $25 shipping... :dunno:

Yep - free shipping with the shield - but I still get hit with the $25 shipping for the other gun I'm ordering.
If I order the shield from my supplier - it's $20 more than the link Husker showed us - but I get out of the $25 shipping fee.

And the $25 I'm obsessing over? The customer can go into Cabelas and buy the gun I'm ordering for him for $15 more.
If I hit him with $25 shipping - then I'm $10 more than Cabelas...
If I suck up the $25 myself - I'm make almost nothing on the sale.

Did I mention I lost $2,500 last year selling guns??

It's fun - Not fun enough to lose money on - or break even on...

Anyway - I'll let you know what I decided to do... )-:

Jason, you can charge shipping. Just be up front about it. If your customers think that $10 over Cabela's price is an issue remind them about your "personalized customer service" and that they'll probably spend that $10 in gas to get to Cabela's.

Think about the service garage you take your car to. If you look at the invoice there is usually a line for shop supplies of some sort, usually a percentage of the total bill. They don't tell you about it but they sure charge it, it covers all the little stuff like brake cleaner, PB Blaster and the sort.

Look at your business as customer service related instead of a gun dealer. I know when I want something you have I expect to pay more than I can get it online for and I expect to pay the shipping. I order it from you because I know you'll be there after the sale unlike Cabela's.

Then the question falls to convenience right? How much time and money does it cost the guy to go to Cabelas and buy the gun? My guess is his gas isn't free and near as I can tell there isn't a Cabelas in your town. 100 miles one way to RC Cabelas costs time and money. :dunno: Most folks don't consider that in the cost of whatever they buy, but I do.

I buy local for small stuff that will cost more local but less than the amount of fuel cost I would spend going the extra 10 miles (20 round trip) to the bigger town where it can be had much cheaper. That's why I don't get stuff sometimes. Some stuff cannot be had in my small town or is just too high priced no matter what. It's always a guessing game nevertheless.

Just make it inconvenient for him to buy at Cabelas...split the shipping cost and sell it to him for the exact same price as Cabelas would. If he was smart he would see the wisdom in that. (time-fuel savings)

Of course I see your point, a trip to RC would be a day for most folks, not just a trip to buy one gun... It's a quandary inside a conundrum... :dunno:

That is my selling point for using my store over the larger box stores in the area... I give personalized customer care, and will open up just about any hours where its possible to legally transfer a gun. The big box stores cannot offer either of those services. People pay a little extra for the convenience.

I have guys that can only come in on Sunday nights because of work that would not be able to buy a gun anywhere else I am glad to take care of them.

This forum is only as good as YOU make it. Lets all work together and have a forum we can be proud of! But lets not forget to have FUN while we do it!

Comments, suggestions and opinions are always welcome. If I can help, I will.

Happy shooting Dave Gillespie - (Sharp Shooter), you will be missed and remembered.

We will miss you Jerry Roberts - (woodyubet), you will not be forgotten.

We are better off from having known you Dean Stephens -(ampersand) It wont be the same around here without you.
