After almost 3 weeks of waiting, (mostly my fault), My brand spanking new Shield .45 is here.
Most of you know the story of the delay, so I won't go over it again.
I was waiting for delivery to be made so I could leave work and go after it, but UPS said weather was delaying deliveries.
I had resigned myself to having to make the 75 mile round trip today to pick it up.
8 minutes before I got off work, I checked the tracking again, and it said it had been delivered so I called to confirm and headed for town. :great:
It was an interesting little shop...not a lot of inventory, but there was a lot of guns in boxes, stacked in corners and tables, not to mention a metric buttload of knives.
Anyway, he charged me $20 and we had a pretty nice talk.
He seems like a decent guy, even if he's not very organized.
Anyway here's the new baby.

:thumb: :thumb: Finally!! :great: :great:

You have the whole set now too!! (-:

Waiting that long makes getting it a little that much sweeter!!
I mean the gun - not.. Well you know what... ;)

In or old age - Sometimes the gun can bet a little more fun.

I wish I was there to give it a try...
But maybe I can wait until after you do a range report with it!! :mdr:

Let me know how much recoil that bad-boy has...
If you think it would be tolerable for a 300-400 round target shooting session.

Some knob on this site is still waffling around on the idea of buying another 45...
He was sure he was going to to start with - and now he has cold-feet - or a cold-trigger finger - or an angry wife...
Or - One or all of the above...

And I'm glad you used a "little" gun dealer for the transfer - Supporting the little gun dealer is a cool thing to do!! :D

Recoil is very manageable, it's much more pleasant to shoot than the .40 is and it's got the best/lightest trigger of all the Shields.
A little takeup, a wall and a crisp break
First 6 shots:
Image
Not going to mess with the sights until I shoot it a bit, but it does look like the rear sight is too far left.
Then I shot the 7 round mag into the same target
Image
This was 7 yards standing in the rain, so I think it's going to shoot ok.

Sure is a good price on them! But I'll bet you're right. End up drifting the rear sight just just a tad.

It looks like it shoots just fine Husker. :great:

It might be a combination of you and the gun... (-:

Almost every shot is touching - makes for a big hole in that target!!

Making the shots touch isn't too hard, you just have to shoot at the same spot
I think that group will tighten up with some shooting.
I tried to tap the sight over and it's like it's welded in place.
I'll put it in a vice and try it again

I've never adjusted a sight like that - You'd think someone would make a tool for that...

The rear sight is Dovetailed in the slide, I think??

Yep, it's dovetailed and has a set screw.
I took the screw out before I tried to tap it over, but I just had the slide sitting on the table, so it moved some when I was hitting it.
I'll take it out to the shed if it warms up and try it in the vice

I put the slide in a vice and beat the tar out of it with a hammer and brass punch.
I think I'm getting closer.

They do make "sight pushers" for most guns. I've used one on my Glocks to either change rear sights, or to adjust them.

Yeah they make a tool for adjusting the rear sights, its pretty handy they cost about 40 or 60 bucks or so, but if you have a lot of pistols they are worth it. uses a screw to push the sight instead of beating on them with a punch and hammer. I have one at my store.

I keep hearing about guys enjoying their 45s. From 1911s to the JHP, the comment "much more pleasant to shoot than a 40" keeps coming up. I gotta get me a 45. All I need is to win the Powerball lottery first. Then I could get a 4595 in Woodland Camo, a 1911, and oh yea...a belt feed AK. :dunno: And that's alllll I neeeeed! :roflol:
