Post subject:  Found a new gun shop

I was looking for a new FFL to do transfers and came across a new shop in the next town over.

His prices seemed very reasonable and we talked a bit and he seemed like a decent guy.

I kinda took issue with the guy I was using because he didn't call in NICS when I there, not that I've ever been delayed or anything, just didn't feel right.

Anyway, he had a Taurus 709 slim and I've been wanting to check one out. I've been saving my pennies like a good boy so I could buy a new gun.

The price seemed good so I bought it, $181 out the door. I don't know how good it is but it seemed fair.

Another guy and his wife came in and ordered a couple s&w 9mm shields. He said he was hoping for a couple more orders to make the order for seven guns for some reason. I figured it's always good to help someone in need so I ordered a Shield in 45 ACP for myself.

I told him I may have to do a layaway and he was cool with it. Looks like I found my new FFL.

Wife just bought herself a 709 Slim, it's run 100% out of the box with Fiocchi 115gr factory loads and my 115 and 124gr reloads. It's as accurate as my SCCY but a bit too "slim" for my big hands, but she loves it. I've heard that the 7 round Hi Point magazines work in them and are a lot cheaper than original ones, I plan on picking up a few HP ones for range use. Mine was $190 out the door with the transfer fee.

His distributor was running a special like buy 7 pistols get 1 for free or something similar.

Agreed husk, I would not have many of the guns I have if it weren't for layaway, but again I wouldn't have many of the bills I have if it weren't for layaway ;)

You'll be making holsters for that 709 here soon, right? lol

As soon as I get caught up on leather work I will be making a holster for the 709 and the Shield.

We picked up a nice used Blackhawk .357 a few years back for $295.
Wasn't looking for one, but at that price, it was hard not to.

I like my Blackhawk a lot and the .41 Magnum has become a favorite caliber now. My want list still has a Super Blackhawk in .44 Magnum.

I've got a SBH in .44 mag, and while I can't afford to shoot it a lot, I do enjoy it.
Well, I enjoy it with the Pachmayr grips, not so much with the wood grips. :dunno:

The pachmayr grips do help a lot. Gotta reload for it, my .41 mag is the same way. One day I'll find one but probably won't have any money to buy it.

I had a stainless Bisley Hunter 44 mag SBH and I sold it. I recently traded for a nice older blued 44 Redhawk with a pistol scope. I just like the double action better.....

Husk check with laxammo.com they have the most reasonable 44 ammo I have seen on the net.
