Anyone here carry the C9 in condition one with rd in chamber? Being a blowback striker firing pistol, I don't feel comfortable carrying it ir even keeping it in glove box or nightstand with rd in chamber.
Just keep oustol loaded with safety off and not rd in chamber. Doesn't take any real time to rack slide.
Wgen I had my Glock 36 and carried it, I had roubd in chamber but never worried about that in the Glock.

I'd carry it with one in the chamber always.
I can think of several scenarios where you may not have the use of your off hand.
I remember reading on one of these forums about a guy who was walking a dog when a pit bull or rottweiler or some kind of dog came out and attacked his little dog.
He picked up his little dog to protect it and the mean dog got ahold of his left arm.
He pulled his gun, but didn't have a round chambered. Since his left arm was in the process of being chewed off, he couldn't use it to rack a round in.
Luckily, an off duty deputy lived right there, and shot the dog.
The guy who was attacked sustained never and muscle damage to his arm requiring a lot of surgery, expense and probably pain.
If it's on my body, there's a round in the chamber.
If it has a safety, the safety is on, even if I don't personally care for a safety.

I'm sorry - But I disagree with Husker... But I see his point!!!

That's the right (most safe) thing to do with a Hi-Point Ivan!!!

I wouldn't carry a Hi-Point with one in the tube.

In the nightstand or glovebox where I was the only one to grab it...
I'd be OK with keeping one in the chamber then as long as it was in a safe place - all good to go in case of an emergency.

But it doesn't take that long to rack it either.

But, trouble can develop in a wink of the eye - and a guy should be prepared!!!

I would carry a Kel-Tec or a Taurus 738 or Beretta Pico (.380 auto's)
A gun that you can keep one in the chamber and it isn't cocked until you pull the trigger...

Is that a DAO pistol???
I ain't too up on the DA or SA thing...

EDIT: Spell check got me!! (again) I shoulda proof read it before posting...

I dont keep a round in the pipe of my C9. But then again, I dont carry it or keep it around for emergencies. It is strictly a tackle box gun that rides along in the boat just in case for snakes and other varmints.

Yep, as each see's fit.
It's one reason I really like the whole 1911 design (and others). The 1911 platform has (or is supposed to and does on a decent piece or better) a very
positive detent safety. One in the tube and the hammer back. Can draw in a hurry and even make the mistake of having your finger on the bang switch.
If you don't deliberately click that safety off, it ain't gonna go bang.

So true about safety features of 1911 type pistols.
I really like C9 and even without rd on chamber I would feel confident in taking short time racking slide ready to use.But. yes it is what a person feels comfortable in doing as far as loaded chamber or no loaded chamber

I don't mean to be a dick...
But Glocks scare the hell out of me.

I know every cop in the world carries one and they have a proven record.

I'd never did carry one myself - I think it's too easy to accidentally fire a Glock.
"Safe-Action" they call it - And I think many other manufacturers use a similar system.

Still - I don't like it!!

Now for the "dick" part...
I think Walt has a dead water heater and another injury via Glock...
Maybe they weren't both Glock related - but I'm sure one was....

And I'm pretty much talking out my ass here because I've never owned a Glock!!
I've sold several and shot a few of them and would like to have one someday when I grow up. (-:

But I wouldn't carry it...

I carry a Glock frequently. There is only one rule to follow that makes them completely safe. And, it's a rule that applies to ALL firearms anyway!

"Thou shalt not place thy booger hook on or in the trigger area until thou arst ready to fire".

I drill drawing with my Glock just to reinforce this rule. That said, there are many who don't even like a safety at all, but that's a preference issue... nothing else.

I and my wife carry and keep a Glock nearby at all times also. The best safety is that which is between a person's ears! ;) Not only does that apply to Glock firearms, it applies to ALL firearms!

All guns can be dangerous, all guns can be safe.
To paraphrase St. Thomas Aquinas, (With apologies to Old St. Tom), "Nothing is intrinsically safe or dangerous, but it's matter of usage may make it so".

I agree - Safety Knows No Season - Safety 1st!!!

Sh/t can happen real fast and the thought of pulling out a pistol with a hair trigger while in panic mode...

I'd just hate to do a "Tupac" during a confrontation and shoot myself in the groin - Even tho I wouldn't be out much.

My groin would thank me...

And I don't carry anything except a pocket pistol - and I carry it all the time everyday.
Part of the reason is I have a sit-down job with 10 hour days.
And to comfortably conceal carry a big honkin' full sized Glock or 1911 type pistol I think would be hard to do with my job...

But I always have light little pocket pistol on me.
And I feel pretty vulnerable with out it!!!
