Went out to the desert to shoot some new loads today. Met some good folks out there.

Fired a bp rifle for the first time while there and it was a REAL Hawken .50!!!
In PERFECT condition. Wood stock was a gorgeous burled something that
just glowed in the sunlight. Was about 79-80 degrees out there at about 1:00.
Very nice day!

Sorry to see you go Dean. Never enough time and it makes

If the mentally deficient are not allowed to own guns then why should they be allowed to make gun laws?

BP gets under your skin fast. It makes you pay attention to the fine points of shooting, knowing you've got ONE shot so make the best of it. I think I've come up with a good load on my .50 for deer, 80 grains of pistol powder behind a 265 grain R.E.A.L. cast bullet, I can cover five shots with the palm of my hand at 100 yards.

sounds like you had a great day Ex, I got bit by the darn BP bug again, now have a reproduction Civil War zouave .58 caliber musket, and took a lightly used Pieta 1851 Colt navy confederate .44 cap and ball in trade. Yes Ajole, just like the NIB one that I sold you a couple of years ago :)

The pistol is fun, you can load it light, and 6 rounds of smoke (yeah 6, only at the range, of course) is good stuff.

More fun than the BP rifles, IMHO. :thumb:

Been looking at BP pistols... telling the wife about how much they have gone up just in the last 4 years, and that it's a good investment.

I have yet to convince her. ;)
