Here are my latest two toys... may be the last ones for the year.

First is an Albanian SKS. Only 15000 built, only 6000 estimated to remain in existence. Unique rifle has some marked differences from all other SKS rifles as you can see by the pic. Just bought this one, its not hear yet but will be soon

Second is a S Korean Daewoo DR200 assault rifle in 5.56mm. Uses AR mags and is basically a piston driven AR. Very neat rifle with a folding stock. Just got it in today and have just cleaned it so far.

Fairly rare rifle and you are SOL for parts, so this one will be a safe queen most likely. Still a neat rifle that I have wanted for probably 30 years.

That Daewoo looks interesting, but in my opinion, you can't beat an SKS
I'm not big on pistol grips and magazines that hang down (although I do like my Aks and ARs)
There's just something about an SKS that stiffens my nipples.

Interesting side note on the Daewoo, it was imported by Kimber. So that rifle is the only Kimber I have ever owned, and ever will ROFLOL

I hear you on the SKS husk. My other two are both early Russians that have not went through the refurb process and both are pristine.... the only other ones that are more rare than the Albanian are N Korean, N Vietnamese and E Germany. Those are the super expensive ones, will probably never have one of them.

Daewoo??

I would have never guessed that outfit made guns...

car's and microwaves - but not guns!!

It sure looks a lot like an AR.
Do you have any idea when it was made?

I'm guessing somewhere between 1985 and 1990. The S Koreans used the M16 as their military rifle for years, then decided it had flaws and they could come up with a better rifle based on the M16. This is basically a piston driven M16 with the buffer spring moved to the piston carrier. Makes it where you can put a folding stock on it. It uses a M16 style bolt lock up system and looks to be the same firing pin. Was considered a very successful variant. I like the fact that it uses AR mags, I already have a boatload of them.

My daughter just bought a brand new Hyundai car.
She traded a Hyundai Sante Fe for it that held up really good for her.
I didn't know Daewoo went tits up either...
Seems like they made about everything!

A buddy I shoot with has a Chinese SKS. Excellent gun! At the time (when hamburger was 99¢) it cost under $300. Should have bought one. He put a kit on it so it's magazine fed. Works flawlessly. I have to admit however, top loading it saves on ammo. Lol

My brother used to have an SKS, I don't remember what it was (his ex sold his guns), but if I remember right, he paid $65 for it.
I should have bough a hundred of them back then

I'd like an SKS just to have. I'm too por to get one any time soon. I seem to remember seeing them in magazines at one time for $99.

Mine are both Chinese.
One is all numbers matching original stock
Image
and the other was all bubba'd up with an ugly stock and detachable mags.
Image
I put a Monte Carlo stock on it and a 15 round steel magwell.
Image
A couple years later, I found an original magwell at a good price, so now it functions like an SKS and so far has been 100% just like the other one.
