Well after all these years, suddenly and completely out of nowhere it seems, the "Evil Black Rifle" bug bit me!

I was sorta - kinda planning on attempting to build my first one but ran across what I thought was a good deal at a LGS and went ahead and took the plunge .

Today. I saw a sales ad from a LGS, did a littl research and decided to go ahead and buy a BNIB
Delton DT Sport 5.56.

It's a pretty basic rig but has everything I felt a "starter" AR should have. and after looking around a bit on the interwebz and pricing parts I dont think I could have built a rifle with all the features this one has for the same money. Maybe I could, but I wanted it NOW ! LOL ! Didn't come with rear sight so I bought the carry handle/rear sight setup with dual apperature and think it will do nicely.
$519.00 out the door !
Took it out to the desert and ran two mags to function check and it ran like a top ! Brass and steel case ammo ran flawlessly. Will go back out and dial it in tomorrow.

Sorry for the long winded post but I just had to share!

Looks Good to me!! :great:

I didn't understand the whole AR-15 thing for a while and kinda bought into the media bull about "weapon of war" and all that crap... Didn't see why anyone needed one - Until I got one!! (-:

Now I have 2 that I put together myself - A 24" SS heavy-barrel for target and varmint shooting'
An one kinda like yours - only a flat-top with a scope - That I use for huntin' with.

And an AR is just a fun rifle for me - cheap to shoot and reload for and easy to take care of.
And you can change so many things on them!! (-:

But, don't expect the really cheap ammo to give you much for accuracy though!!

Anyway - I hope you get along well with your new AR!!
And since the election - they are getting cheaper - and so are some other things.

Congratulations on the new addition/addiction. I'm working on getting parts for my 4th AR.

"Sorry about being long winded"... :roflol: Have you read some of these posts?
One buddy has an Olympia, another has a Bear Creek. I have a Bushmaster. For the occasional plinker, I see no difference. We shot up 500 rounds if Brown Bear. They all cycled fine.

Congrats :great:
I was one of those guys that took a while to warm up to the AR platform too, and even after we had one in the house (The Little Woman bought a Bushmaster Carbon 15 in '08), I didn't get one until July of 2012, about the time the democrats started gearing up for another AWB, so I bought a Windham Weaponry.
Just recently, I completed a build....well, an assembly really, and I gotta say, there's nothing like building your own.
I'm already thinking about my next build
That Del-Ton looks pretty nice, you'll enjoy it.

I've built like 10 or so...so far...once you start, you keep finding new things to change on the next one. I THINK that I have this one exactly like I want it. Have to get some pics on here at some point but with this satellite internet and an old computer it takes a bit to get them onto photobucket, then onto here.
