Picked this up today for a song.
I ran 4 rounds of 7 1/2 bird shot through it and it's surprisingly brutal.
It's a youth length stock, so I think that's why it beat me up so bad, it doesn't really fit me.
Not too much to say other than it's a nice looking gun and before I shot it, the bore looked like a mirror.
I'll have to play with it a little and see if I can figure out how to hold it so it doesn't hate me.

Butt condom with thick pad. Will both add cushion and length.

I might use it for trading stock, not sure yet.
For now it's in the pile.
I did shoot it again yesterday, and I find if I hold it tight to my shoulder, then cock it and fire it's not too bad.
If I cock it before I get it shouldered, I seem to pull the trigger before I get it settled in.
Did I mention it has a very light trigger?

Maybe this is not the same shotgun? The NEF SB1 and variants I found all have pistola grip stocks. :dunno: I likee regardless!

Might be the 5-1/2lb weight has something to do with it.
My brother has a Revelation that is VERY similar only much older in 12 gauge with what I believe is a 34" or 36" barrel. It might be shorter but I'll know for sure since we don't talk any longer. Anyway, it weighed about 6lbs total and was a killer to shoot. But at turkey shoots when I was kid in Mo. it won me a ton of meat. One match booted me out because they KNEW I was cheating, just couldn't figure out how I was cheating even after inspecting the gun, it held THAT tight of a pattern. :dunno: I paid $15 for it, gave it to him for Christmas and then borrowed it a few times to take to different weekend turkey shoots. I knew nothing about it other than it was a 12 gauge. Someone that inspected it mentioned it had a full choke, someone else that inspected it said it was open... :dunno: He still has it 40 years later as far as I know.

I saw a picture of a couple others with the straight stock, and like you, can't seem to see a lot about that stock.

May have been made in 2005 as it has an NV prefix

If you guys remember - I bought a single shot Rossi 12 ga. to use for trap shooting.
I bought it because it was the cheapest shotgun I could get.

That was the must kickingest recoilin' MF CS SOB I ever shot!!

This was after the 1st 25 rounds...

Image

The last 4 or 5 rounds were excruciatingly painful!!
It was tough to act like a man in front of everybody for those last shots and act like everything was ok.

I ended up filling the stock with sand and a little clear permatex to keep it sealed...

Image

And even that wasn't enough...
I also got a Paychmer recoil pad for it and that made it just tolerable..

No sock comments please...
I finally sold that POS to my older brother and have a quality used Charles Daly semi-out now!! :D

So I don't think those little light single shot 12 ga. shotguns can ever be made to not kick the hell out of a guy!!
Learned my lesson...

Jason, as bad as this one kicks, I'm not sure I'd want to shoot a 12
They had a single shot 10 gauge there, and I told the guy I wasn't man enough to shoot a 10 gauge.
I've shot a 10 gauge, that's how I know I'm not man enough.
We've got a few .410 single shots, and those are a lot of fun, and I know from experience if you shoot a big angry snake with a load of 4 shot, it can tear the snake into 3 pieces and get snake snot on your face.
I really like single shots, and I don't know why.

Like my grampa always told me...one shot, one kill.

I remember when you made that mod. So how much did the extra weight help, though it wasn't enough?

And how much was the Pachy pad?

Maybe remove the sand and epoxy in three or four heavy weight .308 buffer tubes and buffer weights with extra duty springs?

This little shorty might replace my .410 for a summer truck gun.
That long Rossi barrel takes up the entire back seat.

It was very tolerable to shoot with the extra weight - especially with the pad on it. :great:
It cost around $15.

20 gauge will kill something so much better than the 410. Not belittling the .410 in any way, just saying more is better sometimes.
