Converted one of my Mosin's.
I used the M38 because I liked the look with the length over the 91/30.

Looking good Ape :great:
What all did you modify? Looks like a curved bolt and a threaded muzzle, and of course the stock and gigantic scope.........(Tell us more about the scope)
How's she shoot?
Glad to see you posting :)

The entire build was done to be able to take it back to stock if I want. So no permanent changes were made.

The bolt is bent, but I bought a new bolt and had it bent so my old numbers matching one is still good.

The muzzle break is a bolt on so I wouldn't have to thread the barrel.

I dropped a Timney trigger in it. And it feels SWEET!

The scope mount is a no drill mount from "Badace" I believe? It feels like a really solid mount though! It mounts using the rear sight mount.

I'll have to go look up the specs on the scope. I believe it's a 40 power? It's a relatively inexpensive scope, cause you know me. lol

But like my other new toys, I've yet to shoot it. Once I finally get my medical issues figured out , it's gonna be a fun day at the club! :-D

Oops! And the stock is the Arch Angel for those who haven't seen one before.

Great looking rifle! I also, hope your med issues are soon dealt with. My wife says MY issues, can all be solved with counselling! LOL

Thanks guys. It should've been dealt with by now, but over 4 months later and a new Dr., and it's still here. As with anything I do, it has to be unique. And in this case I seem to have stumped the Dr's with my uniqueness. LOL

Looks good Ape!! :great:

What kind of scope do you have on it??

I always seem to go with the "Cheap" ones... (-:

Jason, I learned something from Steve (stevespages) a long time ago about scopes. You might buy a $200 rifle... put a $400 scope on it! If the rifles any good, you'll appreciate it much more for the scope.
If it's a lousy rifle, you'll dump it anyway, but keep the scope for the next rifle that'll likely be better. Then you'll already have the nicer setup without paying extra.

It's like I am with computers. I buy the best one I can afford and then it's the longest time till I have to upgrade. If I went cheap, I'd buy three in the same time and be money behind.

I put an inexpensive scope on my AR build.
Not a cheap one, but compared to a lot of them, this one was pretty inexpensive at $150.
It's the Vortex Crossfire II 3-9x40 with the Dead Hold BDC reticle
It's really a darn nice optic.

I'll have to check again. It's not a big name brand or anything, but it had a lot of good reviews.
I'm a cheap SOB too, so the only way I'll pay big bucks on glass is if I won the lottery. LOL
But for me, if I remember correctly, it was a bit pricey. I believe it was close to 200 or so?

I've had good luck and bad luck with inexpensive glass. So I've learned to do as much research as possible to see what kind of reviews they get. Just have to weigh the good and the bad reviews sometimes.

Vortex is a good scope, they make affordable ones and super expensive ones just depends on what you are wanting.

The Chinese scopes IMO are not the junk they used to be for the most part. One thing you have to give them, they are good at reverse engineering, and they are putting out more scopes now with decent optics and are holding up well.

The scope on my .50 is the most I have ever and will ever spend on a scope, $1K with my ATN day/night time scope coming in second at $600 but honestly its worth it because of the computer in it. It does everything but gut the pig after you shoot it LOL

I've looked through a $2,000+ NightForce scope on a customers rifle a while back...
I don't know...

Sure - it was better than mine!!

But that's a lot of money!! - Worth more than all my guns together!!

I have a NcStar 6-24x50 on my "Target Shootin" AR.

If I remember right - I think Walt had some good things to say about NcStar awhile back...

They used to not be so great, but their quality control is a lot better, many of my "sniper" rifles have NC Star high power scopes on them.... If they work, why not?

Get the best glass you can afford
I've seen people triple the value of their rifle with high dollar scopes.
A friend of mine has a Ruger AR with a Trijicon ACOG thing on it.
The scope was nearly twice the price of the rifle, maybe half again as much.
I fell in love with that optic though.
