I just cleaned my guns a few days ago and I just wanted to post a picture or two of my beloved JHP and see what you guys think.
It has quite a few rounds through it and I think it would still work just fine.

This is the slide - is it getting a little to beat up here??
Image

This is a better view:
Image

That's the face of the slide (I think that's what you call it) and the little hole is where the firing pin pokes through.
The part in the center seems to be a bit recessed compared to the rest.

Maybe it's always been that way and it's supposed to be like that.

So, what do you think?
Will it go another 10,000 rounds??

How many rounds can you expect to shoot through a Hi-Point pistol before it needs to see mom?

IMHO, I'd say it's about time for a trip to mother. Looks like some of the steel parts that the zamak is cast around are starting to come loose. I take it that's the same slide you showed sometime back with pieces flaking off ? Just my $.02.

And if that were a big gun, think howitzer, that would be the breach face.

It wouldn't hurt to send it in to Mom
On the other hand, if it's still working..............

10000 rounds, I would send it in just to see what they end up changing out if anything.

I'd send it in and let the manufacturer decide.

Ditto. Send it in. Showing enough deformation that I'd say it's worth them looking at it.
Great pics bud!

Call mom, tell them how many rounds you have through it.

I think that's what I'll do - I'll call them 1st and see what they's like me to do.

I'll ask them if they want me to remove my Mahan sight if I send it.
I would imagine that's what they would want me to do...

Yes definitely remove your sight... they may change the slide and you could possibly end up not getting your sight back,

At motorcycle forums, guys like to brag up how many miles they've got on their bikes and if you own the same model, you love hearing about what you can expect. 10,000 rounds, hot damn, that's sounds like 200,000 miles on a motorcycle. I put a couple thousand (maybe) on my C9, then found another cheap. So I started shooting the new one till I ran across the 380. I think I've got 300 through it, but I just ordered a Tanfoglio. In between there's the other brands and calibers. 10,000 rounds on one gun? I am impressed and humbled. How many others have hit five digits?

I have worn out two sets of reloading dies on the same S&W m10. Took about 40 years but I got it done.

Anyone have any idea how many rounds that would equal.

George - some folks like to buy lots of guns - or at least several!!
This Hi-Point was the 1st pistol I've ever owned.

And I discovered I like to shoot a lot - and it kind of reignited my interest in guns!!
I did buy another pistol - a little Jimenez JA-25. And I reload for it too.
I managed to shoot 1,100 or 1,200 rounds through it, and I sent it back to Jimenez to get it fixed up.
Which they did - for free - and it's good as new!!

I even went and got an 01 FFL - And when I got it, I got a loan and bought a bunch of guns to sell.
And I decided I'm not going to buy any guns for myself until I get my loan paid off.

But - I didn't quite stick to that - I bought a 738 Taurus TCP to pocket carry and sold it.
Then I bought a Beretta 380 Pico that I carry now.

I've put together a couple of AR-15's too and reluctantly sold one.

I did buy a shoulder-bruising single shot Taurus 12 gauge shot-gun too - for trap shooting.
It was the cheapest one I could find!! I'm not much of a "Shotgun Guy"...

Anyway - that's mainly why I have so many rounds through my JHP.
It's nice to not have too many calibers to reload for too!!
I have almost 5,000 pieces of 45 ACP brass and I've reloaded them all and shot them up twice.
and I'm working on the 3rd time through!!
So 10,000 rounds should be pretty close.

I would say... A LOT!! :D

I get on kicks where I shoot the crap out of one gun...and then move on. For a while, all I shot was my Phoenix. I had plenty of others to choose from but kept going out back with the Phoenix. Currently I'm into the CF380. It's not my favorite 380 but I keep grabbing it. Shot another 100 rnds last night. I must get bored too easily to put 10,000 rnds through one gun. I've given up all my vices (except my wife), so buying guns and shooting is the way I decompress. When you ad up what people spend on drinking and smoking, I'm still way ahead. I love hearing the longevity stories. It means I'll never wear mine out.
