So I saw this on Youtube and it seemed reasonable & since it was only $30 I said why not. Thingmeister was responsive to my questions & I had his product within 5 days. It was easy to install and with the mag release safety modification I am loving this pistol more than is reasonable. Anyone out there with a similar or not so pleasant outcome? Just asking?

I never heard of the Thingmeister, can you post a link?
What does it do?

I'll "butt in", Husker.
It appears to be a fix for the 4595 and JHP magazine catch conversion that allows the HP's to accept 1911 mags.
I'm sure that will void the warranty, but some folks don't care.

It will not void your warranty. If you have to return your gun to mom you take off your after market parts. The catch works great on the JHP and on the 4595.

Allright - I ask the question and then probably answer it...

Why would I want to use 1911 mags in my JHP or 4595??
The price isn't all that much different with the standard mags. :dunno:

1. You already have 8 - 9,000 guns like Husker and Walt do, and a 1,000 of the are 1911 pistols... Why not use 1911 mags if you already have them?? Just as well use what you've got!! If all it takes is a adaptor thing...

But, I watched part of Thing Meister's youtube video and it doesn't look like it's very easy to install on a 4595 - But I've never done anything like that.

2. There are hundreds of 1911 magazine makers and styles.

I just clicked on Biffs link and I see they show a drum magazine for a 1911 - I didn't know those were available for a 1911!! A Glock, but not a 1911.
A little more searching and it looks like Promag makes a 40 round drum for the 1911... That aught to warm your barrel up!!!
And a Korean company makes a 28 round mag too.

So - I applaud "Thing Meister" for his ingenuity and entrepreneurship, but not for that name...

I am fine with my 9 round Hi-Point mags... I have a 14 round Promag coming I'm looking forward to trying out.
I didn't buy it new - I bought some mags and parts from another fellow here that had some "4595 Stuff" to sell and he had a Promag in there too - Thanks Ken!! He's a great guy. :great:

I have an AR-15 too - and I'm probably the only AR-15 owner on the planet that doesn't own (or want) a 30 round mag. But, I sure have sold a boat-load of them!! (-:
I have two 10 round mags for mine. I am pretty sure it keeps me from wasting ammo!!
Some folks think an AR is just a "spray hose for bullets" but many AR's are pretty darn accurate.
But some folks like to unload 30 rounds as fast as the trigger can be pulled - and that's fine!!

Anyway, I don't own any 1911 pistols...
And I go through enough ammo with my JHP using 9 round mags - and I got a new 4595 for Christmas yesterday!!
So I'll stick with my 9 round Hi-Point mags - They've worked fine and I'm happy with them.

But - To each his own!!

Because most 1911 mags are held to way tighter tolerances the HP mags IMHO. Though I've run across a couple that were almost as bad as HP mags, most are of far better quality.
