Hey all!

Curious about a couple of things. Is it worth it to modify 1911 mags for use in the JHP? Seems pretty easy to do, but at the same time kind of pointless since a factory mag is only $19.50. Are there any issues with dirt or gunk getting up in the mag well?

Also, does anyone make a red dot site that fits the JHP? How about 3rd party rear sights in general?

Any recommendations for 'must haves' welcome!

IMHO it's not worth modifying 1911 mags. As far as sights, I understand conservative troll makes the best. There is another thread around here with contact info. Ex_Isp will probably be along soon with info.

There is an OUTSTANDING rear sight available! Metal instead of the flimsy plastic thing they call "a fully adjustable rear sight" that won't stay were you put it.
This one locks in tight and stays put!

Mahan sights!!! We waited a long time and now I'm stuck. I dropped a hint for an anniversary present and now I have to hold off until after our anniversary. I wouldn't want to steal the wife's thunder.
Frito...order some Mahan sights and do a review so I can share it with her. (A kind of reminder).

Also...for the price you can't beat Hi Point magazines. A lot of guys have made tweeking Hi Point magazines it's own hobby. I've never had a problem with any of mine. I thought I had quite a few until I saw Jason's steamer trunk full. (A slight exaggeration for humorous effect).

My guess would be that nobody makes a red dot sight to fit the JHP, since the JHP has no top rail to mount one on. Of course, if you can custom fit a mount, you can mount anything you want.

Thanks for the info, guys. What's the view from the Mahan sight? I looked at their website and I didn't see a pic from the rear of the pistol. Is it a 2 dot set up like the stock sights?

It's a standard notch sight. No dots on it, just a notch sized correctly as to fit the front sight while peeking down the line. I have mine outlined with white hobby paint for excellent contrast.
