This one was chilling, but the story behind it is there were 14 guys who went through Flight school together during WW II, flew together, and when it was all said and done, there were only two left. The artist was always looking for a way to honor the WW II aviators, and when the other survivor passed, he decided he had better do something. hence the bronzes.

It represents a group of pilots, some brand new, others season, at the morning brief. And standing behind them, are the Ghosts of their fallen comrades.

I saw this at Wings over the Rockies. Not sure how long it will be there, but watch for it near you. The story is amazing.

This shows a recently fallen pilot trying to comfort two friends who are still in the middle of it all.

This one was perhaps the most chilling. The pilot with his head bowed is new. During a dogfight, he zigged when he should have zagged, right into his wingman who is trying to comfort him with "Things go wrong, and we mustn't blame ourselves".

If the mentally deficient are not allowed to own guns then why should they be allowed to make gun laws?

Many years ago, I would take my boys to an exhibition called "War Birds". It was held at an airstrip associated with a resort for the rich called Lake Lawn Lodge. Hundreds of WWII planes would fly in to fuel and the pilots would eat at the lodge. When they left, they would circle back and fly over in formation. It was awe inspiring! The EPA passed some law about above ground fuel storage, and the planes stopped coming. Modern jets are cool, but the WWII fighters and bombers are beyond what I could ever describe with words and the men who flew them were heros....all of them.

I love those old planes. Collings foundation about once a year comes around with a B-17, a B-24, and a B-25. I love going through those things. One of these days I'm going to pony up the $400.00 for a 30 minute ride.
