So, I wanted to get me a flap holster like I had with the MPs way back when. Found one on E-Bay, used of course, and bought it for the whopping sum of $9.00. It came in and I'm inspecting it, and I realized this thing had never been issued. There were no wear marks, the leather was perfect, and the metal was unscratched. I had to spend some time stretching it out so my 45 would go in.

This weekend, I'll be actually carrying it. My wife and I are going up to Creede Colorado to help a friend get ready for winter (move wood, put in door, fix roof), and they've been having bear problems. Seems there's a restaurant across from where she lives (get this, a Mexican restaurant, owned by a chap from India, and ran by Russian exchange students - I doubt I'll be eating there), and since they've been a little lax on their grease disposal, the bears have been coming into town. Hopefully I can just stay the heck out of the way of the bears and not have to find out if a 1911 can stop one.

All that to say, Once in a while you get lucky and find some good stuff on E-Bay that isn't overpriced there.

Is it US marked? If so you got a steal, if not you still got a darn good deal. I would like to get one for my 1911 pistols so I can carry them, if you see another one on ebay please post it here... Would love to see a pic of it too.

Walt, I may have reviewed this somewhere here but it's worth another!

I got a 1911 holster from Scott. It's a friction fit but one that I would have no concern about carrying. It's snug enough that
it requires a tug to get out (won't fall out), but does withdraw smoothly. And beautiful work.
Here's a for a couple of photos of it (and more), and a link to the whole review with additional photos.

I've been thinking about making a flap style holster for hunting since it's common to get caught in the rain or snow.

Here's the pic's I promised. While it's got several days use on it, and I had to do some kneading to get the leather loosened so my 1911 would fit, you can see it's still in really good shape. What wear is now evident is from me carrying it but all the metal is still blackened. Every holster I ever got issued in the MPs needed to be re-dyed, shined, and the metal painted.

Nice holster. As an armored crewman my sidearm was a 1911 and we wore shoulder harnesses which I hated... I scored a holster like yours from supply on a lucky fluke and was the envy of my platoon LOL
