My neighbor/step-son-in-law wants my Savage 110 in .270 pretty bad.
He's thinking some kind of trade for his Ruger Vaquero in .45LC.
It is the first year and has the original box, paperwork and shipper.
It's blued with case hardened frame.
What would be a fair trade, or should I keep my rifle?

Sounds like a nice deal to me but I don't need a 270 and I like the vaquero a lot, especially in 45 Colt.

I don't really shoot the .270 either, ans I really like that Vaquero.
What would be a fair trade?
I'm pretty sure I should throw in a little money

Tim, I'd take the Vaquero hands down... not even blink an eye!
Then after the trade, whack him on the head and say "what's wrong with you, boy... I raised you to know better"!!! ROFLOL

How bad does he want it? Let him make the terms so he can live with it. I've got no experience with either gun but a quick look on gunbroker shows the Vaquero costs a bit more than the Savage for the most part. Original box, paperwork, etc. sweeten the deal some, but not a lot. Nevertheless, the pistola looks to be about +3/4 to 2 times more expensive than a plain .270 with a cheapy scope. :dunno:

Do as EX suggested...make the deal and then tell the kid what a dunce he his...it'll be a learning experience for him. You can always settle your own conscience later after he stews a while on the art of making a deal.

I think we may have a deal, I'll throw him a little cash and everybody is happy.
Looks like I will own a Ruger Vaquero this weekend.

Cheating ONLY happens when one person thinks the other had the advantage. I've given stuff away and thought I came out ahead...just a matter of perspective I suppose

She still hasn't forgiven me for "cheating" her brother in law.
He wanted my 995TS really bad so he offered a Ruger P345 and $100 for it.
Not being stupid, I traded him.
She still brings that up :dunno:

I would just tell her you were teaching one of "Life's little lessons" with the BIL and from then on, he'll do a little more research with that sort of thing..
And the same would apply for the step-son-in-law too!!

It's for their own good.

I mean, it's better you than some stranger... Right??

That Ruger Vaquero is worth a LOT more than a std. Savage rifle - Unless it has a Nightforce scope on it or something like that!! (-:

I think the scope is a BSA :)
The only thing I really like about that rifle is the trigger..I think they call it an Accu trigger.
It's amazing.
I'm pretty excited to make the trade.
He's supposed to be home sometime today or tonight, then I get my new Wheel gun
