I am out of room most of my guns are locked up except a few I don't have room for.
I would like to have a rifle and a shotgun handy so when a coyote howls or a skunk shows up, I don't have to run upstairs, unlock a cabinet, get a rifle/shotgun out, find some ammo and rush out the door.
Ideally, I'd like it near the door, handy and not too much fuss to get ahold of.
Maybe something like a verticle rack on the dining room wall?
I just don't know :dunno:

Couple of computer hard drive magnets on the wall...

I have a horizontal gun rack I'm my office and ammo for them in the closet. When I had the farm I kept a shotgun right by the door, ammo was in the cupboard.

Scared off a few coyotes (and a couple boyfriends and other unwanted visitors). You should see what a 12 gauge does to a woodchuck.

You could buy some of these:

Hang them up high enough so the kids can't reach and hang a shotgun on them.
Then stash a box of shells near by and then you're set!!

Or - if you have room, maybe on of these would be better:

And put it near the door.
You could keep a shotgun, a rifle and a pistol in there - all loaded cuz it locks - And you'll be ready for anything!!

If there are ever kids around, I'd avoid just hanging up high. They'll push a chair and table over just to see if they can reach it.
Perhaps something like LE uses in cars?

Good ideas guys
I'm a little limited on wall space in the front room, so cabinets are out, and horizontal won't really work either.

just put them on the door itself. Or ignore the wild critters that roam around because the outdoors is, after all, their home. Put out some food on the opposite side of the farm that they could get in trouble visiting. That's what we do and never have any problems. Ever.

Spread used cat liter around the property, it worked well for us on the farm. Never had coyotes come in the yard when we did it.

If I did that, I'd have to get a cat :slap:

Mount the gun on the inside of the inside door. One small j-hook to hook the buttstock on and one small j-hook to lean the forestock in/against. Put the gun at an angle.

For coyote deterrence just get a burro, no coyoter will come anywhere close to the property and if a stupid does the burro will put the fear into it.

Skunks....coons.....not really certain why we have never had problems with them. We do leave a little cat food out in the barn. Even when we had laying hens we never had problems. :dunno:

My wife just moved some bales around up in the mow this past weekend and found a couple of big coons nested down behind the bales. They just wandered off without getting too concerned she rousted them. The cat that went up there with her was a little startled however. She said he didn't get upset, his eyes just turned into laser beams. She said the coon's just ignored everything and left. Maybe our coons are more docile than everyone else's.

Looks like a hell of a good idea to me too!!

As long as the kids can't get a-hold of it - It'll be quick and easy to grab. :great: :yes2:

Not thrilled with the location they chose for the display picture but that's up to you anyway. Put it in plain sight and risk having the house broke into later, or hide it.
