It was Spring ‘82, the week after the Kentucky Derby, when my best friend called me on that Thursday morning to suggest we have lunch. Ostensibly, this lunch meeting will be a meeting between Bob and my boss’s daughter for the purpose of his interviewing her for a job.
Bob and I had first met in Sunday School when we were 12 yrs. old and struck a friendship that survives to this day.
In ‘82, Bob was a hospital administrator for one of the largest healthcare corporations in the country and I was the sales manager for the second largest beer distributor in Kentucky. We were both 35 years old and we both had fat expense counts.
So Bob and I meet at a popular upscale bistro and I introduced him to Cindi, the stunning 21 yr. old redhead.
After lunch and a few drinks, Cindi took the hint and left, but Bob and I decided it would be prudent to stay a while, have a few more drinks and generally get shit-faced.
Around 5 O’clock (1700 for you enlisted men) (big hand on the 12, little hand on the 5, for you officers) we decided that we should relocate to the local watering hole to enjoy the company of the after-work crowd.
Here we proceeded to have a few more adult beverages and regale the bar crowd with our opinion of the hot topics of the day.
Suddenly, it was 8pm! Bob mentioned that he hadn’t seen his sister in Cincinnati for a while.
Good friend that I am, I mentioned that it was only a 90 minute drive and we should go see her.
After a few more beers, it was a done deal. We both called our wives to inform them of our decision and we were Ohio bound.
On Friday morning we awoke in Owensboro, Kentucky!
I think we made a wrong turn.

I seem to have lost track of Cindi, but if she'd dyed her hair and matured well, she should look like this:

Did she get the job? With alcohol involved and if she had a rack like the lady shown, I'm going to guess yes.

Yep, she got the job, but quit about a year later to marry an anesthesiologist she just happened to meet at the hospital. Poor ol' Bob had to start interviewing young women with large wombongas again.
