Back in 2010, I had a chemical Stress Test performed on me by the Veteran's Administration Hospital System.

The procedures were very simple - fast for twelve hours, appear at 7:30 AM at the cardiology center, follow the nurse into a room, lay down on a bed and have an IV placed in Your arm and EKG tabs are placed onto Your chest. The Marking Chemical is injected into Your body by the IV. Several minutes later, the chemical that increases Your BP is injected by drip feed and the test commences...

After a specified amount of time, the antidote to the stress chemical is injected and then You are observed for an hour to ensure there aren't any side effects. Then, You are released. Nothing to worry about, right?

The fun happened the nest day when I took a load of scrap wire (6 gauge copper) to the recycling center to earn some spending money...

I patiently waited in line with the other folk until it was my turn. The folk at the center asked if I wanted to wait until they stripped the wire. Since bare copper brought an additional buck fifty to the price, I said Yes. That process took about 20 minutes. Afterwards the stripped wire was transferred to the scale. I wandered closer to read the results and these horns started Blaring and Hooting!

The workers jumped off the forklifts and ran out of the building! Most of the customers followed suit! The the most amazing thing happened! Three employees came running out of a back room carrying these yellow boxes that were clicking. They waved them over the wire I had brought as well as all the other metal and glass that the others had brought. These employees had puzzled looks on their faces as their readings were 'normal'...

At this time, a flashbulb fired off in my head! "Are those Geiger counters?" I asked. "Yep!", replied the nearest worker. "Check me!" I said gesturing to my self.

So, he did. And, the yellow box sounded just like a .22 cal machine gun firing. The three men bolted out of the room! I started laughing as the sun dawned upon me in its full glory...

After I explained what had happened the previous day, things returned to normal and I received my payment. After getting home, I called the Hospital and was told that the tracer elements would wear off in a couple of days...

Whew!

If the mentally deficient are not allowed to own guns then why should they be allowed to make gun laws?

The VA did an artery mapping ct scan on me years ago, and they used a mildly radioactive dye to help with the scan... they told me it was perfectly safe, but when they brought it in to put it in the IV it was in a lead lined box and they used lead lined gloves to handle it. I shit you not.

Sorry amp, no super powers came of my experience either

We will miss you Jerry Roberts - (woodyubet), you will not be forgotten.

We are better off from having known you Dean Stephens -(ampersand) It wont be the same around here without you.

I got one of those radiation injections once too. I specifically asked for the injection with super powers.

They claimed to be out of stock ...

We all know better, don't we?

I got one for "arthuritis" yrs ago because the isotopes "stick" to inflamed areas.

i was a mess. I overexposed the film and they had to re-shoot. Should have asked
for Hulk enhancement!! :-) Maybe next time! ;)

I asked for the "super powers" stuff, but the doctor's handwriting was so bad, the technician used the "supper powers" stuff. I gained 17lbs. and every time someone opened the refrigerator door,
my balls glowed in the dark!

Back around 2006 I had to have the same procedure performed, but I managed to miss the part about NOT leaving the country for a few days.

What happened is I needed to fill a prescription, and since Yuma is so close to Mexico, and has better prices on prescriptions, I decided take advantage of the savings.

They didn't hold me very long, but if not for the fact that my medical paper work was in my car, which my wife retrieved for them, I could have been in custody for a while. But ya, I know what your talking about, federal agents get rather excited when someone sets off the radiation detector. I'm glad it happened when entering the US, rather than while entering Mexico though. Who knows how long I would have been in a Mexican jail, or held in less than accommodating circumstances.
