So I bought this 995 back in the 90s. I just sent it back to mom, had a feed problem worked on and had the new ts stock put on. the new stock is way better than the old classic one was.

As you can see, I've kept it kind of simple with just a couple of add ons.The scope is an AIM 4x32. It does a fine job with the exception of the open sights on top. they are pretty much useless but between the laser and the scope... all is good.

I bought the shroud off ebay and everyone probably knows by now, you have to remove the stock picattiny rail for it to fit. I bought a chunk of rail from ebay, cut it down and mounted it to the shroud with allen screws and hi-temp jbweld. I then took some jbweld and molded in where the flat suface of the rail meets the shroud. Using a philips screwdriver with sandpaper wrapped around it I was able to get just the right curve I needed. I then sprayed the whole thing with matte black gun kote and it turned out perfect. If I had to change anything it would be the color. I would have gone with flat black because the matte was a tad bit more shiny than I wanted.

This is a close up of the laser and switch cover.

Two things about the Lasermax switch cover
1: I love it!
2: It was spendy ( $40 )

The Barska laser is big ( real big ) but I like it. It's green and has no problem reaching out to 30 yards in broad daylight.

As you can see by the picture, I'm the kind of person who likes things tidy. I cut the fourteen inch switch cord and ran the wire through the stock. I used the same soldering iron to melt a groove on the inside of the stock as I did to solder the wires back together. I'm not real fond of wires sticking down that can get snagged on things.

Sunday is range day... It sure seems like a long ways off.

Thank you codger

I enjoyed taking on a little project even if I do have more money into it now than when I bought it brand new.

You know, I'm very impressed with Gun Kote. I'm thinking about ordering somemore and redoing an old Savage bolt action 22 I have.

Hope you're having a great day.
