Howdy guys
:worthless:

Been wanting to do a "build" for a long time!!! Well here goes: Got these really cool sights from a guy in Arizona

Image

Image

and

Here is something i've wanted to try when it comes to polishing! What do think?? :good one:
Image

Image

Eventually I will polish to a "mirroresque" hew with jewelers rouge, at least that is the plan!! Wanna make this baby snap your head around when you see it!!

I used a dremel tool wanna be and a diamond plated tip. It's not quite done as you can see in this close up.
Image

and here

Image

the idea is to leave just the black on the rib between each depression,(I think it will look sharp when i'm done) anyhow all of that is nice, but HERE is where i'm headed:

this is much much better

Image

I've always hated the side of the finish on the side of the chamber. It looks like they took a belt sander to it. Here is my answer. It is called "engine turning" I sanded off the powder coat, polished it up a bit. Having measured before and after the process i know i only remove about .002 or less!! The side of the chamber is rather irregular, so it may have been +/- .0015. Very very little. I'm not at all worried about weakening anything!! Not done yet, but you get the idea!!!Then chucked up a piece of rubberized abrasive called "cratex" It needed to be fairly agressive and it is.

Image
Not done with it yet, it will looke even better, I promise!!

Here is a picture of the whole package!!! It's kind of difficult to get the detail and the light happy!! But you get the...!!

Image

That is a staged pic. There is a stick of gum postioning the NC Star Green laser. I fully intend to build at least a one off adapter for my JHP so that i can mount this NC Star Green laser!!

Image

Here is the real thing

Image

and here

Image

and here

Image

There is more work to do. I'll be putting a recoil groove or two. Plus it will be trimmed and threaded for 1/4X20 set screws!! There will be some bevels that allow the adapter to slide back farther, using more of it's surface!

This will be my house cannon! It will certainly never go on my hip or in a holster!! I may HANG ALL KINDS OF TRASH ON IT, CAUSE I CAN!!! I want it to be as intimidating as possible!! The laser and the big ole hole in the front, should do the job!! It is a green laser which is always effective on Zombies!!! At least the ones here in Arizona!!!
But here's a question i have for you all. Would there be a market for an adapter that converts the proprietary rail to a Picatinny/Weaver rail if i could get the price point around $25?? If i produced a solid design it would open up a whole world of options for us lowly HiPoint lead launchers!! It would be removeable, transferable with a note from your mom (just kidding!!) from one weapon to another, as long as they come with the "rail" How long has HiPoint been putting out the rail? It is new to me. There wasn't one on my C9!??

Please let me know what you think. I will be building some 3D grips composed of layers of bicycle tube that will make a sweet grip. Sticky, comfortable and much more stable (had trouble with my C9 and FTL's until i made grips for it)

Well here is the real thing. It ended up looking pretty much like i drew it in my cad
Image
Notice the screw and the recoil groove

Here is the laser mounted
Image

It is as rigid as can be!!! The only movement arises out of the play that is built into the laser it self. By that i mean that i hit my numbers per the print with in .001 so any error is on the laser!!

 NOW I HAVE SOMETHING TO REPORT I'D RATHER NOT BE REPORTING. WHILE AT WORK AFTER HOURS, I DROPPED MY JHP! IT FELL ABOUT 1.5 FEET, HIT MY RUNNING BOARD ON THE HHR THEN HIT THE GROUND ANOTHER 6 INCHES OR SO!!!!!!.

THE PART THAT IS GOOD IS THAT IT HIT THE SIGHT ITSELF AT SOME POINT IT DID NOT MOVE OR LOOSEN IN THE SLIGHTEST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! TRY THAT WITH YOUR FACTORY SIGHTS YOU CAN SEE THE SPOT WHERE THE CONTACT OCCURRED, THE ANODIZE IS DAMAGED, BUT THE THE SIGHT DID NOT MOVE OR LOOSEN!!!!!!

I'm not the type that puts stuff on my pistols either, sorry. It sounds like a good idea to me though.

I'm not a fan of putting stuff on my handguns either but I could see where plenty of people could use a good mount.

Looks good so far, I have a JCP that I've been working on.

The C9 and .380 have no rail, never have.

The JCP and JHP have the rail, older alloy models did not.

And I am not much for stuff on pistols either.

Thanks guys, appreciate the feed back!!!!!! Will build one and see what happens. I use projects like this keep up my cad skills!! :nice: I've got the laser and i want to do something with it!!

I even thought of building a wrap around that you could mount a red dot sight on that would not move because it was not tied to the slide!!

May do that as well just for fun!! :worthless: So i will send some pics when i get it done!!!

If you have a laser cutter the sky is the limit on what you can do. Build an inside out, over the top, rail adapter for optics. Image

By the way ...this was a pain in the arse to draw in paint with a mouse on a notebook cover.

^^I'd have used Autodesk Inventor to draw that ^^-- but I went to a fancy ComputerSchool to learn to use that.

Paint probably took less time anyway ... :dunno:

'Sides I don't have Autodesk Inventor and my fancy pants school isn't teaching me useful stuff like that anyway.
